I doubt it was the Hash that caused them to do this..

More than likely they are confusing opium for hash..

Does anyone do real reporting anymore.!

There's more going on there than hashish smoking. Though it wouldn't surprise me if constant drug and alcohol abuse along with the severe combat stress triggered a manic psychosis. Reminds me of the movie Casualties of War.
