I am not a EV owner but I have installed a few Tesla home chargers and it does not work that way at all.
At 240 volts and 50 amps the recharge rate is 37 kilometers per hour at home and yes that is slower than a 460 volt charger like they have at Sheetz but the home charger can get you to 100% overnight easily.
People with solar systems have two electric meters one measures what you buy from the power company and one that measures what you sell to the power company. While charging the car you are going to be taking power off the grid. As long as the sun is shining you are putting power back on the grid all day long. At the end of the month they do the math with the two meter readings and yes a lot of people have no electric bill at all and many get a payment from the power company a few times a year. The question is does that cost savings and revenue offset the cost of the solar system? I am not sure about that.
