Great Director. Terrible Film
Date: September 01, 2010 09:18AM

Every great director seems to make at least one inexplicably bad film. For instance, how did John Boorman go from making a classic like this...

...to making a classic pile of shit like this as a follow-up....

Thats funny. I recently saw Zardoz on Fios and couldn't figure out wtf was going on. I think it was made in the 60's when everyone was tripping on acid. If I had been tripping, I probably would have loved it.

How about Stone?

He went from Wall St., Platoon, and a few other good ones to making Any Given Sunday, Natural Born Killers and Alexander.

Or how about Altman's Popeye?

I actually liked EWS. It shows what length a conservative country will go to hide it's sexual nature. The most conservative anti-sex politicians and and elite are the most depraved and willing to go to extremes to hide it.

Plus, I enjoyed all the perty, nekkid wimmen galavantin around, :P

I would put something on here about M. Night Shyamalan, but I've come to the conclusion he is a terrible director who had one great film.

Yeah, he's a one hit wonder.

And I agree with your assessment of Planet of the Apes.

Tim Burtons Planet of the Apes might be one of the biggest fails in movie history.
The original was already great and still holds up pretty well today. There was no need to redo it, especially by Tim Burton.

He should have been suspended from making any movies for 10 years for ruining a classic movie.

most of Martin Scorsese's movies in the past ten years or so have been.....unnecessary. Stick to gangster movies, Marty. Nobody cares about The Aviator.
