I heard this on the radio the other night and forgot how brilliant of a song this is:

Tomorrow Never Knows from Revolver. A hint at what was to come....

I think "Hey Bulldog" has been on every Beatles mix tape or CD-R compilation I've ever made.

A song I've always thought is underrated is "Savoy Truffle" from the White Album.

I agree with all of the above. Revolver is probably my fave of all their albums. The guitar melody on this is totally bad ass:

There's a ton of great stuff on the White Album. Glass Onion, Why Don't we do it in the Road, Happiness is a Warm Gun...

Revolver is one of my favorites, too. I like transitional albums where a band is in the middle of evolving from one style to another. I feel the same about Unforgettable Fire from U2.

Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey = another great song. One of the most rockin' songs in their whole catalog.

This is kind of funny. In the Spitz biography, he said that Lennon kept changing the lyrics in the studio to "baby you're a rich fag jew" to piss of Brian Epstein.

One of the few songs Phil Specter didn't manage to fuck up on Let it Be...

Strawberry Fields Forever. It's one of the few Beatles songs I like.

True. But I don't know if anyone would qualify it as "Underrated."

The whole B side of Abbey Road that you are talking about is awesome. The guitar parts starting in you never give me your money all the way through the end are some of their finest work. The weird part is how tight that album is despite the fact that they had pretty much fallen apart as a group.

if I had to name a "favorite Beatles song", I'd have to say it's "You Never Give Me Your Money".

this is my only real reference point to the Beatles. I've got nothing against them...I just generally stay away from most rock and/or roll music (except for early rock n' roll...that stuff's great). Check it out:

That's okay but most people, and musicians, would strongly disagree with you. However, Meade would totally agree with you - so you are in good, fat, gay company!

+1

Clearly the artistic merits of the Beatles are lost on Harry Tuttle.

I understand their significance in music history... They broke some rules, pushed some limits, and ruffled some feathers... That's cool and all... I can appreciate that.

Honestly, however, only a handful of their songs ever moved me... If that makes me the minority, so be it...

Eleanor Rigby is not underrated but is my favorite at the moment. Not like Bands today, The Beatles had so many hit albums, that sometimes side 2 would get overlooked. Same with some of the Stones albums. I loved side 2 of Tattoo You.

At some point in time over the years, I've probably considered every song from "Exile on Main St." to be the "best song on that album".
