Shard of Glass the dumbest commercial ever

Why do all the stop smoking commercials have to be so incredibly stupid. Shards of Glass? Are smokers all of the sudden going to think, "Oh wait smoking is bad for me?"

they arent designed to make people stop smoking, they are designed to help prevent people from starting smoking in the first place.
