It's scary to think we just had a vice presidential nominee who doesn't understand the Constitution, who thinks Schlessinger's First Amendment rights "ceased 2exist" because she was criticized for haranguing a black woman who called for advice, using the word "nigger" 11 times. Again, Gov. Palin, the First Amendment protects us from government infringing on our speech rights; it doesn't take away other Americans' right to criticize.

I don't think it's necessary for us to start a thread for every individual thing that Sarah Palin doesn't understand. Why not rename this one "Things Sarah Palin Doesn't Understand"?

I don't think the First Amendment (corrected FUNd's spelling) covers plagiarism either. His source was Salon.

And with Pelosi suggesting those who oppose the NYC Ground Zero victory palace should be investigated, I am MUCH more comfortable with Palin's idiocy than I am with Pelosi's outright scary takedown of First amendment rights.

Also of extreme comikal value are the liberal bloggers attacking Republicans on this when members of their own leadership (Reid - Senate majority leader, Dean - former POTUS candidate and DMC chairman) gave the SAME FUKKING OPINION as Palin's. But they are not criticized or mentioned in the slightest.

I'm not sure how Dr. Laura's First Amendment Rights were violated. She decided to resign. I don't recall the government forcing her to. If anything, the free market principles the Republicans tout had more to do with her leaving the airwaves because, frankly, she doesn't pull the numbers to justify a contract renewal.

Howard Stern and his entourage say the N-word all of the time. They did it for years when he was broadcasting. The difference between Stern and Dr. Laura is that Stern brings the money in and Dr. Laura doesn't. It's the same reason if Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh did the same thing, they would still be on the air.

Dr. Laura, Imus, etc, made the mistake of doing this shit when they were on shaky ground already.

She didn't resign, did she? I thought she just said she wasn't going to pursue renewing her contract. No doubt it's probably the people in charge of her contract told her they won't renew. Not that big a deal though it happens all the time in radio. Giving her the opportunity to give up on it herself rather than management pulling the plug actually allows her to save some face and is a nice way to handle it, all things considered.

I guarantee that the company she works for wasn't going to renew anyway (or at least not for as much as she thought she was worth). It's kind of a convenient excuse for her.
