i'm very glad that MS made the "IE9 test drive" page
http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/ because it's given other browsers a kick in the ass to fix performance on various things.
it used to be that FF3 got less than 5FPS when fullscreened on the astroid belt demo
http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/AsteroidBelt/Default.html and set to the max number of asteroids but now gets 60FPS all the time. the Flickr Explorer
http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/10FlickrExplorer/Default.html was also super slow on firefox but now they get about 30FPS (40FPS on the beta)when it starts with all the animations and a solid 50FPS (60FPS on the beta) after the board is present.
Chrome is also 60FPS on the asteroid demo but surprisingly the flickr demo is about 30FPS which is significantly slower than on firefox and doesnt work properly which was shocking to me.
Opera hasnt released any updates, so they while it works, they still suck at speed.
all that said, MS had to come up with new demos that everyone else sucked at, hence the "psychedelic" demo. so kudos to MS for showing people what needs to be improved in our current browsers and to the people that improved them. :)
