I was trying to figure out why the appeal of this show. One of is of course it's exciting to see the violent seas and the challenging conditions. But another is it's basically sensible. The crew are working at something you can understand the reason for what they are trying to do.

... and they take camera and film thing called episode and people watch and like and they sell spots for TV ads for you to watch of junk for you to buy that you don't need and then your brain is MUSH.
Now you can turn on a quality program like Overhaulin' but overall TV SUCKS.

The appeal is its guys on big boats not having to deal with freaked out women drama, make up, fashion, kids and they get to go crabbing\fishing. Plus they get 30,000 for two months.

$30000 for 2 months is not that great when you consider the cost of the boat and the risk of life and personal injury. They work hard for the money at the sacrafice of themselves and their families. If it were great money, wouldnt they atleast one time eat one. They never do because all their catch is money even a single item. You can make more money at a company like HP and the only risk is getting caught as the ceo with ethical issues and stepping down. That happened this week and I cant believe it. They should know better. I feel bad for all the EDS employees who were baught by HP. And the impact it will have on them and their families because I know stock prices are going down on HP. So there is a direct relationship between the two, but a vp at HP, makes more than $15000 a month and less risk, unless you consider dating while married a life risk.

The Deadliest Catch is popular because it doesn't involve midgets, multiples or pastry chefs. Or multiple midget pastry chefs.

The first season was really interesting because it captured the last time that the crabbing was a free for all. The more you caught, the more you made because the end of the season was determined during the fishing. Now it's popular because of legitimate human drama with people doing dangerous work that few of us could do. It's true reality TV. Not this fabricated crap on E! or gay American Idol. I love the show.

They do a little fabrication, such as when they traded the two greenhorns. But it isn't blatantly obvious like the shit on TLC, A&E and History. History is particularily bad with setting up fake scenarios on its shows.

These guys are taking this job because they're not qualified for CEO positions.
