Meade Skelton should be considered a living legend. Almost 80,000 posts mentioning him here on FFXU, thousands of followers on YouTube and other channels, music sold on multiple platforms including iTunes and Amazon, an accomplished actor with movie credits to his name, sold out concerts and widely thought of as one of the heirs to Elvis musical legacy hence his invitation to perform during Elvis week at Graceland and inventor of a brand new genre of music, coffee shop country. If that doesn’t qualify I don’t know what does.

Meade is not playing at Graceland. Meade was an extra in one film where he didn't receive screen credit. How stupid does a person have to be to mistake that for an acting career? If one uses any search engine to search on "coffee shop country" one gets a list of country songs suitable to be played in a coffee shop. Meade is nowhere to be found and nothing about it being a genre.

Meade's legacy is being a lolcow. He is a laughing stock at both Fairfax Underground and Distorted view. He is like a hands-on Chris Chan. Chris Chan gets lots of mentions on the internet too. That fact by itself means little until you read what those mentions are saying.

He has his own Encyclopedia Dramatica page. He is an embarrassment to the rest of his family. His neighbors hate him because he single-handedly has ruined the property values of the neighborhood. Meade should pray that no one remembers him since an absence of a legacy is better than the one he has carved out for himself.

No one who listens to Beethoven would seriously compare Meade to Beethoven.
Meade is too feeble-minded to understand Beethoven. Beethoven had composed 8 of his nine symphonies by the time he was Meade's age.

How many symphonies has Meade composed again?

How about string quartets, piano sonatas, and piano concertos? so many other things.

Meade is also too feeble-minded to ever learn how to read music, let alone compose any.

I was wondering whether legend was appropriate for Meade yet or not. It seems now, if you have one hit you are a star, two hits a superstar and three hits a mega star, until the next year and a new media creation comes along and is pushed as the next big thing.

Meade is certainly a cult hero and fan favorite. I would compare Meade to the Nighthawks. He may not have widespread fame, but he can have a long, successful music career.

What makes Meade special, is he is a singer, songwriter, musician, as well as video producer. He should have a weekly one hour show where he can talk about current events as well as share his wisdom of life.

As many have noted on this thread Meade’s many accomplishments are very significant and whether or not he is considered a living legend is subjective, his talents are certainly noteworthy and worthy of praise.

I think "living" might need to be redefined when one is dealing with a 43-year-old man who can't support himself and needs to leech off the Government and is a burden to his family.

He looked satisfied to me.

He definitely is a living legend. Hopefully he will be at NAMM this year. The NAMM conference will be in Anaheim next month.

Everyone I know loves Meade Skelton and his music. I don’t know if that makes him a legend or not but he is certainly beloved

that's where Meade got the inpiration for the national hit "Sweet Tea". See how the brains of the gifted work?

I know Meade seems to have some hard feelings towards Frank James. However, I think he should turn his attention to another star named James - Rick James. I would love to hear Meade cover Superfreak. Talk about holding lightning in a bottle!
