H.R.5741 - Universal National Service Act

To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes.



Slavery is making a comeback. But our government will be doing it, so it's okay.

We don't even need a draft.

This bill is something Charlie Rangel has been pushing since the Iraq invasion. His motive behind this legislation is that if *everyone* is required to serve, US politicians will be less inclined to start debacles like we did in Iraq.

He's not proposing it because we need more national defense. He's proposing it so that warhawks in Congress and the WH think twice before committing troops to battle.

Yes. But if you had conscription, we would be more judicious in the way we select going to wars. It isn't a coincidence that Afghanistan is the longest-running war in U.S. history and it is also one of the few that didn't involve the draft.

Repair the roads
cut all the grass on the medians with a sling blade
paint grafitti their muchachos have spayed all over bridges and walls
build us a border fence
enforce immigration laws
and Clean the streets of annandale

They saw what it did during the Vietnam War. Everyone was all for it, until Uncle Sam asked THEM to go.

Same story with Iraq and Afghanistan.

The establishment knows this, so they continue to send our troops over there for MULTIPLE tours at the very expense of the soldiers.

They could relieve the soldiers and reinstate the draft, but THEY KNOW THAT WOULD END THE WAR.

A draft will certainly have little effect on the duration or strategy of any war, and never should be used unless it is a last resort to remedy low enlistment numbers. In fact a draft enlistment, might very well make the ranks WEAKER.
