The decommissioned USS Kitty Hawk in has stopped in Long Beach today on the way to Texas to be scrapped.

The naval institute reports the carrier was sold to a scrap company for one penny. But... ship is too big for Panama Canal so has to go the long way to Texas around South America.

To the highest US bidder many a Vietnam bombing and rescue mission flew off Kitty Hawk a big ship a little spot on the sea to an incoming naval aviator who may be wounded and have battle damage to his aircraft

Is that the ship is being towed by Chuck Norris who is swimming below pulling the chain attached to the ship

Chuck will take a break when the ship gets to Florida , his favorite meal is Arthur Treacher's crisp fried fish hot chips and Fanta to cool his jets

You can’t pin the blame for Nam or Afghanistan on the military. That honor goes to the politicians and think tankers who didn’t let the military do its job and had no coherent goals or strategies to consolidate gains and win. Vietnam is before my time so can’t point to any books or articles for that, but read the Afghanistan Papers. Excellent book. Eye opening and really makes you even more upset with the powers that be.
