The family of a fallen U.S. Marine is suing actor Alec Baldwin for allegedly defaming them.

Baldwin is accused of knowingly posting false statements about the family of Marine Lance Corporal Rylee J. McCollum, who was killed in the 2021 suicide bombing attack in Kabul, Afghanistan as America was pulling out of the country, the lawsuit says.

Roice McCollum was the recipient of “hundreds upon hundreds of hateful messages,” as a result of Baldwin's post, the lawsuit says. One message allegedly told her Marine Lance Corporal Rylee J. McCollum, who was killed, “got what he deserved". The lawsuit says another message told her to “get raped and die”.
