Pluto Tv is absolutely free, Its my goto app with quite a few channels but you don't get current network shows. And, just like cable, most of what's on there. But it does have 20(?)movie channels . There are also a couple others I've found but they aren't streaming so if your not on WiFi or true unlimited data they'll hesitate every few moments. YouTube has a few free TV shows and free movies also.

There's also some app that has free network shows but it's not available in my area so I don't know the name. It has been growing to include new markets but due to some federal law it can only show channels in your area (example, you can't watch a Baltimore or NYC area channel in DC, you can only watch DC area channels

I think Pluto is the most popular. Though I can also mention Project Free TV, Noxx, Tubi TV, and TV Muse. All of them allow watching tv series for free. Well, you can easily watch a lot of different shows on Netflix, yeah, it's not really free but there is a great variety of them. If you have any problems with the region, then try to check this post right there as I believe that it can be useful for you and help you with this stuff. Good luck with it
