Robert E. Lee was born on January 19. Thomas J. Jackson was born on January 21. For much of the time when the holiday mattered it was, correctly, celebrated on January 19. A Friday Lee-Jackson day is as much a bastardization as having George Washington's birthday celebrated on a Monday.

Fuck history. The state took LJ day away from us and gave us election day instead. Election day is on a fucking Tuesday so you pretty much have to take the Monday before off so you can get a 4 day weekend.
