But even then the signal indicator is showing "No Service." I don't think that way will work either.

I think the entire situation is a conspiracy to sell iPads. It is an attempt to convince consumers they don't need phone capabilities after all.

That's an interesting opinion. I know 3 people with the new iPhone, and none of them have had any problems at all with reception. Not a single complaint. That was sort of making me wonder if this wasn't just a bunch of overblown BS instigated by Apple's competition.

I heard somewhere a small piece of duct tape covering the antenna/ transmitter area will do the trick.

This is truly an idiotic design flaw that could have been fixed for a few cents (a thin strip of translucent polymer on the edge of the phone, for instance, to prevent a user's hand from completing the circuit). The fact that this occurred and that internal engineers warned about it yet the phone went to market anyway without a fix shows Apple's growing complacency.

Having solved the American jobs problems, Chuck Schumer moves on to tackle Steve Jobs.

Seriously, is this an issue the US Senate should be spending time on and making demands about?

Agree (didn't cry, though). But very funny. The monotone adds to it.

Surprised you hadn't seen it before (or maybe you had). It is completely viral.

And, yes, there is something absurdly funny about it - even after playing it for the tenth time.

Yeah yeah yeah, the likes of HTC and thier removable battery counterparts are a LITTLE LATE! Apples iPhone and AT&T SET the INDUSTRY STANDARD almost some Ten(10) FUCKING YEARS AGO. Although that cartoon video was funny, it was wrong. Behind the curve? Lemme see, when I had my 2G iPhone, there was no HTC or all these other companies making garbage hardware out there. Apple & thier partners AT&T were FUCKING PIONEERS, BITCHES!

I had a Treo for several years. The battery finally went out. I spent $60 or $70 for a new battery. A week or two later, the whole fucking phone died. So, there's really no need to replace batteries for technology that is either obsolete or non-functioning within a couple of years.

I believe that this is the coverage map from 2009:

The dark green represents 4G coverage.

Actually, there is a valid issue regarding replacement of the battery, because sometimes you do in fact get a bad battery from the factory, and the store will replace it for free. Also, you can purchase extended charge batteries, and being able to pull it also grants you the ability to perform a hard reset of the device.

Looks like coverage in major cities and then along major interstates. Interesting concentration in western Kansas....

Hey TPL, a valid issue??? I don't think so.
iPhone still has 'hard reset' capabilities... I do it all the time.

Also iphone comes with a one year replacement 'manufacturers warranty' and includes the battery. Plus if you can solder, the iPhone battery is completely user serviceable (don't fuck up though because you'll VOID your warranty).
Lastly, after a year, you'll probably want to sell your old one on eBay or Craigs List and get the latest model anyways.

Well I guess that settles that.

Have a nice -iPhones kick ass day.

true. After my Treo experience, I bought a Q. After two years the battery went out. Based on my Treo experience, I simply got a new phone.

One interesting thing is that it follows the trail of the Yellowstone hotspot. (The Snake River Plain.) I guess that part of Idaho is more populated than the rest.
