In court today, prosecutors claimed that private messages from Cary Wiedemann's webhosted site www.fairfaxunderground.com are being subpoenad by authorities. The police claim that Mr. Wiedemann (weed man) was using his website in order to setup drug transactions throughout Fairfax County.

I was gonna say the only way that this hurts a poster is if he gives them up, but i'm not a sure what kind of impact this actually has w the proscution

subpoena for court : warrant .. same same. 1 is pre-arrest, 2 is for trial.

Good luck if they want to subpoena PM's and internet documents. I doubt there was any drug traffic done through PM's. Plus first your crossing into federal law\court areas. Second you are assuming the server is hosted in the US.

Even if they did get IP's they'd probably be on a couple of years wild goose chases getting subpoenas from hosting providers and going through their lawyers. Then once you got the IP's you'd have to determine if the IP is fake, spoofed or proxied. It's essentially a black hole.

You then have to show that files on the persons computer connect that unique individual to the PM. PM's don't leave files on local drives so who is to say that others might of used the computer or IP address. IF the IP is connected to a wireless then you also have access issues.

Or, maybe you just didn't like what I had to reveal? You see awhile back while reading over the abundant PMs I received I noticed right there in front of me my PMs were disappearing. Can't have that. I said to myself, self why would someone want to delete anything here much less my PMs. Then I realized someone is scared and in order to protect myself I spent days copying all the juicy stuff. You know the stuff that convinced me I was on some kind of law enforcement site. I should thank Cary for clueing me in, but having personnel information about myself spat at me here scared me. Thinking this was a law enforcement site I was paralzed with fear and who to turn to.

One think that I just can't help thinking about is the fact that this site had a lot of post supporting illegals. That's all well and good if you aren't working them to in your illegal enterprise. I don't believe it was a coincidence that "La Familia" happened first. After a bust like that there's always fallout, directly and indirectly.
