Is $7.50 an hour a good wage?
Posted by: Summer Job Seeker ()
Date: May 25, 2007 04:35PM

I have not worked much lately. But I just got a job paying 7.50 an hour. Is this a good wage or a poor wage? The job involves standing for 5 to 6 hours and I am wondering if it is worth it.

Is this a good wage or a poor wage?

If you live at home and don't pay rent, or car payments, etc., that should help you save some money for school.

If you're 30 years old and trying to earn a living, you'll need to work about 120 hours a week just to scrape by.

I think its pretty good. But I generally won't work for under 8.00$ an hour. And I have an aversion to anything that requires manual labor.

It's meh...

I would suggest trying to make that working at a resteraunt doing carryout or something where you would get tips on top of the wage..

Take the job at $7.50 and keep looking.

I'd be shooting for more like $15 an hour. If you're half way decent at anything you should be able to get that.

Edit: Yeah, $7.50 plus tips waiting tables is probably a good money maker. I usually tip at least $4.50 so if you served me you would make that in an hour. A couple more customers like me and you could probably make $20+ hr.

It depends on what you offer your employer. If it's just a warm body to do menial shit, then consider yourself lucky. If you have to think, have a decent personality, and have an ability to speak English then you might want to move on. Of course if you're a teenager, then forget all that and just show up for work.

This is good advise. Unless you have another immediate prospect. $7.50 an hour sucks but its better than zero if you keep looking. You need to be able to have the hours to devote to the job and continued job search. Do the best you possibly can at both no matter how bad the job may be. You must do your best.

they are looking at your bank account savings. the minute you have any

they set you up for a fake court trial and try to stick you with a fine for all of your savings

----------------------------
what die without money ? these assholes don't care. they will arrest you sooner then help you if you are ill can't work and all of the sudden need a little aid

MORE LIKELY. IN A TOWN THAT STALKS people and dodges court: they will be the reason your ill or unemployed.

they put political friends from other countries in high class large family size condos

-----------------------------
i worked a job where i was threatened to be there 60 hrs/week though i'm disabled

the assholes didn't have much work so there was allot of waiting around

==============================

despite that: i didn't get MIN WAGE for 40 hr/week even, for the year

my friends who aren't disabled left the town saying the place had gone crazy and downhill because of the government

in the 80's, before gov workers 3x their hellish pay

$7.50 is what a site helper would get, before being apprenticed, journeyed, etc. a gopher

steady workers (ie, half smart and not a drunk or clutz) if they kept at it 20 years would have the same or nicer things than government workers (might higher pay but not all year round)

floaters would get low pay and grift with their friends at bars in and out of jobs (back then: that meant full time and maybe years at a time). but rent was low then: they were NOT IN TENTS or being pushed into the VRE either

-----------------------------
compare that to today. your gov workers are in mc mansions

they are offering min. wage to SKILLED LABOR drive to MD to build mc mansions (you can guess, for obamas family dumb ass). obviously you'd loose money doing that

------------------------------
kick the mother fuckers ass who's suggesting to you this is "OK"

That seems way higher than what any Tea Party Republican might earn especially since most are on some form of Public Assistance. You can verify that with Liberal Logic, Stabitha, Debbie Downer, etc.

Way too low for an educated, well read Democrat. They typically are on a six-figure salary with generous bonuses or own the company and live off dividends.
