Re: Let the Impeachment Trial of Trump Begin!

Can't say I love Trump, but...
Since 45 Senators had already announced that they will vote to aquit, because they deem the trial to be un-Constitutional, what, at this point, does it matter?
(Also, some of the remaining 5 Republicans might also vote to aquit. There will not be any defectors from the 45 block, so it's a done deal no matter what. Even vaguely possible that some Dems might vote to aquit, although probably not since they totally don't need to. Because it was over before it even began and there's absolutely nothing that can be done about it.)
Just a show put on by the Democrats, right?
It won't even be much of a show, because there won't be any witnesses. Republicans have threatened that if the Democrats call even one witness, the Republicans will call the FBI as a witness. And the FBI will testify that it wasn't Trump - it was other people. (And they might even ask the FBI if that hypothetically it WAS Trump's speech and actions, would what he said be a chargeable offense according to the US Code? Cuz the answer there is "no way". And the Democrats know all this, and so, no witnesses will be called during this "trial".
I think the most interesting thing about it is that the Constitution specifically requires the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to preside, and he refused to do so because the entire trial is un-Constitutional. So the Democrats said fuck that Constitution it's always getting in our way, and we'll just make up our own rules and have one of the Prosecutors (who will also be on the Jury) also be the Judge! So even if Trump were to be convicted, can you imagine how that's going to stand when Trump goes to the Supreme Court to get his right to run for office restored?
But that's just academic since we already know the outcome: there is no way he will be convicted -- half the Senate already formally announced their vote, and you need 2/3 to convict.
It's an illegal "trial" and quite reminiscent of the kangaroo show trials they had in the Soviet Union. While a massive Army presence of 20,000 troops need to be stationed around the building. Kinda like in the Soviet Union and in third-world Communist totalitarian countries. I see a theme here.
Some have talked about putting him on trial in an actual criminal court. Then he could be a felon and maybe even get locked up. However, the reason this will not happen is that, as every lawyer on the planet has explained, there's no way he would be convicted. Because nothing he did meets the charging criteria for incitement.
So yeah, bring on the Healing and Release The Unity!
Can't wait for the mid-terms...
Oh, and Trump was never going to run again anyway.
TDS much?
