PS3

i was wondering if the PS3 could get a virus. i've checked google for some info everyone pretty much said no "but maybe in the future" and those were from 5 years ago. so it is the future now, is it possible?

also,
would intentional glitching in the PS-home cause any damage to the console?

What do you mean by "Intentional glitching"?

As for a Virus, I don't see why not. On the Wii for instance, you can software hack the console's ability to perform certain functions. The way you go about it, is by basically introducing a Trojan through a game.

for instance, if you are in the Playstation Home(it is like a social interaction with avatars) there is a bench glitch. you perform a couple tasks at the right time and you can get up on the bench. there are some others too like going to a staircase you do something fancy then pop up on the railing. you can then walk off the railing and you will stay in mid air.

yeah everything i read said it "was possible" but "they" would have to write a specific virus for the PS3 so it was highly unlikely. and like i said before, this was all 5 years ago. more people have PS3's now and there are credit card transactions on there, so there is motive to write one. im just wondering if there has been any cases of viruses about and what the odds are these days?

and no, i dont use it for porn. thats what work computers are for.

the only time the trojan would be running is when the PS3 is playing that game. you must realize that the PS3 uses a hypervisor and if you can hack the hypervisor, you could make the PS3 play copied games off of any medium, like a USB stick/drive or just a burned BD-R disc or DVD-R if it's a small enough game. if this had happened, i definitely would have heard about it.

this is why I quit video games with the last generation of systems. Who on god's green earth has the time or the money for all this nonsense, I ask you?

i like the modded wi using ocarina save glitch
i use a 4gig sd card and have all of snes, nes, genesis, and ngeogeo on there at the click of a button.

i play more of the old games than the actual wii titles..pretty much a nice emulator with a great response-time classic controller.
