The Defense Department of the US has issued a study that concerns national security. The biggest issue they site is that Americans are overweight and unhealthy to fight.

75% of high school kids are to fat to serve in the military. I find that a high number.

I thought it was 25% are too fat. Whatever...if the military could only see those fattie's kill streat to death ratios on COD they'd reconsider.

Not since the USAF instituted the "Fit to Fight" program. You're better off joining the Navy. Although, as an Army vet I can tell you that some of our guys....well...you get the idea.

I can't stand most Marines, but the look on this Capt.'s face makes me crack up every time.

I know an officer in the Air Force. Every year he balloons up and about six weeks before he has to pass his fitness exams, he starts running and lifting weights.

I guess it is good to have a program like that in some respects, but it must make for some crazy diet behavior during the year.

Some squadrons are more liberal about their "F2F" regiments. Officers are on a whole other playing field than the enlistedmen when it comes to PT standards. Flight units in the Army are that way. When I was in the ground maintenance platoon we were PT'd to death daily. When I switched over to flight platoon we'd stretch and wait for the ground crew to march off to do a 5k run then we'd all hop in our cars and go to breakfast.

HA. My last unit was a strategic one out of Ft. Belvoir. Needless to say, if you wanted to pass the APFT, you had better do PT on your own.

Today's 20-somethings are the smart ones. Back in Vince's day, you had to go to Canada to get away from this shit. Today, they just eat that chicken from Popeye's.

You can't get on a sub being too big though, and you sure as hell can't work in Inshore Combat (Including SpecWar, Riverine, Coastal Boat/Mobile Units, etc.).

Your idiot comments dont change the truth...

You fat ass 20 something year olds need to push yourselves away from computers and smart phones..and get some exercise! You are a national security risk.

P.S...WTL, maybe some 40-50 year olds should take a break from FFXU also...you need some time off.

I've never seen anyone in the service who's that big. As a matter of fact, I can't even recall the last time I saw a "fat" Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Coastie, or Marine (Except for maybe an older individual or two, but they most certainly weren't obese, and they could still complete their physical fitness requirements).

On the other hand though, I can see that guy being strong. Put him on a mortar squad, and he'll be an asset for sure.
