Volcano and Air Travel

Can anyone explain to me how it is that the news is covering how the volcano in Iceland has fucked up air travel in Europe...using aerial shots of the fucking volcano? I mean, you can apparently fly right up to the fucking thing, yet Air Laplands can't take the fuck off from Bullshitsistan, Hungary.

duh, my ass. British Airways has been flying test flights and the planes have been fine. It seems to me that the plume is so dissipated by the time it reaches Europe that the density of particulates should not be a major issue .

Supposedly the ash turns into glass when it is sucked into the jet engines. I'm sure there would be hundreds of trouble free flights, but just one incident could result in a shitload of litigation.

True. But they may have no choice at some point. It doesn't look like the eruptions are ending anytime soon.

Is there such a thing as passenger ships nowadays? I guess some cruise ships could be chartered for trips between Europe and North American.
