Rep Maxine Waters' sister Velma Moody, 86, died from coronavirus at Grand Manor Nursing Home in St Louis on May 1
'It is one of the most painful things that I've ever had to experience in my life,' the Democrat congresswoman, 81, told The Grio
Waters first announced that her sister had contracted the virus on the floor of the House of Representatives on April 23
She took the podium to express support for the Healthcare Enhancement Act and said: 'I'm going to dedicate this legislation to my dear sister who is dying'
