Vicodin is a prescription medication that contains two active ingredients: an opioid, hydrocodone, and a non-opioid, acetaminophen. This medication is available in oral tablet formulations.
Vicodin comes in different strengths of hydrocodone with 300 mg of acetaminophen, such as:

Vicodin 5/300 mg
Vicodin 7.5/300 mg
Vicodin 10/300 mg

There are some inactive ingredients in the Vicodin pills, such as stearic acid, pregelatinized starch, povidone, crospovidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate.
Vicodin pills are helpful for the management of mild to acute pain. They treat pain by blocking the pain signals sent from the brain to the body.

Are there any unwanted effects of Vicodin?
Like all other medicines, Vicodin also has some unwanted effects apart from its therapeutic effects. The adverse effects of Vicodin use include:

Drowsiness
Mental clouding
Lethargy
Mood swings
Dependence
Ureteral spasm
Constipation
Urinary retention
Hearing impairment
Skin rash
Adrenal insufficiency
Serotonin syndrome
Anaphylaxis

Which people cannot take Vicodin?
People with several conditions cannot take Vicodin as it can be dangerous for them. Vicodin shows contraindications in people with:

Significant respiratory depression
Severe or acute bronchial asthma
Gastrointestinal obstruction
Paralytic ileus
Hypersensitivity to hydrocodone, acetaminophen
Known sensitivity to any inactive ingredients of Vicodin

Thanks for sharing this info! I know that Vicodin is one of the best pain killers, but having read about it on a Canadian Pharmacy website, I found out that it has side effects and can be addictive. So, it is better to be careful when taking it.
