The comments have grown overnight. There is even a tangent where Meade brings up his throwback views on interracial marriage. We all know how much fun THAT is.

Best of all there is a person who actually knows and understands religion calling Meade out. This is being done without rancor just refuting everything Meade says with facts. Meade seems near the breaking point. From the timestamps, it looks like Meade was up until 3 this morning typing away!!!

lol. Meade is more than holding his own against poor little haleyscomet. Crazy liberal fools trying to tell us that Christmas isn't a Christian holiday. Who is stupid enough to believe that?

Meade, you are not holding your own. And no one is saying "Christmas isn't a Christian Holiday". All that is being said is that Christmas was piggybacked onto and got many of its traditions from the Winter Solstice festivals that predate the birth of Christ. You are the only one who seems to have a problem with that fact.

I'm not Meade (or Meadr) and Meade isn't saying they don't both occur during the same time of year. He's saying that the celebration of the birth of Christ is a separate holiday than the pagan's celebration of whatever the heck it is that they were celebrating. The fact that they occur at about the same time of year has nothing to do with "piggybacking". If there was any relationship, it was the Christians attempts to show the Godless heathens that their rituals and beliefs needed to be driven into the dustbin of history, which is pretty much what happened for 300 years. Now the Godless heathens are making a comeback.

Meade, you are the only one crying.
You do know that "Yuletime' derives from the Northen German winter solstice festival that predates Christianity. That festival featured decorating trees. Martin Luther may have been the first to take that idea and label it a "Christmas Tree" but he didn't come with it like your video claims.

there is a shit ton more of that stuff.

Here is a basic question that should be easy for a well-versed and knowledgable person on the subject.

Would you kindly provide some scholarship or scripture which tells that Jesus was born at the end of what is now December?

I'm still not Meade. Let us know when there's a Yuletime holiday celebrated somewhere. On December 25th, we'll all be home enjoying giving and a holiday feast on a federal holiday known as "Christmas", not "Yuletime".

I don't know when Jesus was born. But we celebrate it on Dec. 25th. If you don't like it, then go celebrate the failed Kawanza scam. The 99.999999999999999% of the rest of us will be celebrating Christmas.

No one knows when Christ was born. The reason they chose the date they did to celebrate was that there were already major celebrations on that time for the winter solstice. Much easier to piggyback and coopt an existing tradition than start a new one. Furthermore, many of our Christmas traditions date from those pre-Christian celebrations. Some Christians do not celebrate Christmas due to the pagan origins of these traditions. Meade is too idiotic to see this. Since you are not Meade, I'm sure you have more common sense than him.

Why are we rehashing what is in the comments over there?

Meade wants to get his 'musical ministry' off the ground using these Sunday Sermons.

The problem is that truly learned people will call him on his crap.

Wrong. Meade is simply saying Christmas is a Christian holiday. It's the fools trying to argue that it's really a pagan holiday because the Christians trounced all over their silly heathen rituals and won the day that are being called out for their crap. Meade is right. He just goes overboard sometimes because of a (well-deserved) siege mentality that he's had to endure from the dozen or so haters who can't let him be.

All that is being asserted is that many traditions associated with Christmas go back much earlier to the preChristian Solstice celebrations. Pointing that out seems to upset Meade and he like yourself(who is 100% not Meade) sound stupid and confused when rebutting things that were never said.

Nah. Humans have been decorating trees for thousands of years. Long before the heathens in Europe were doing it for their silly winter solstice. The Sumerians were doing it in ancient Iraq 2500 years before Jesus was born. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus. The need of the heathen satanists to deny this obvious fact is what Meade is fighting against. Like I said, he might go a bit overboard at times, but he's correct at the core of what he's saying.

Not when he says in the video that Martin Luther was the first person to decorate a tree. He may be the first person to call it a "Christmas Tree". He grew up in an area that decorated trees at that time of year. He took a previous tradition and slapped a new name on it.

Wrong, it was actually Pagans that adopted the Christian time of celebration. Look up the truth.

He's no more wrong than you claiming it was the silly heathen pagans who were first to decorate a tree. He's expressing a larger idea that Martin Luther was one of the founders of modern Christmas and started the tradition of the Christmas tree. If Meade thinks ML was the first person to ever decorate a tree as part of a celebration, he's wrong of course. So are you if you think the silly heathen pagans were. You are confusing Christmas Tree with trees that were decorated for an outdoor celebration by countless communities and traditions for millennia. You have lost sight of the forest of Meade's wonderful message while you navel gaze the pine needles on the trees. Stop hating on Meade. He's harmless and trying to do good. What is it exactly that you do to better mankind?

Actually, any religion before the three Abrahamic religions are called "Pagan".

The first people to decorate trees in honor of the Solstice and the return of the sun are rightfully called PAGAN.

So, in the first sentence of your own link, we find that Paganism was a term first used by early Christians to denounce the polytheism of the Roman empire. This was long after two of the three Abrahamic religions existed (Jews for at least 2000 years and Christians for 350 years). Today, paganism is used to express a worship of nature and natural things vs a divine deity per se. You should read your own sources before spouting off about them.

I fucked up. I should have qualified "before" to "before those religions became prevalent in a region". However, you bring up a very good point. Worshipping trees is at the center of most of the Pagans sects who worshipped nature. That history of the idolatry of trees is one of the reasons certain Christians find that tradition odious.
