Roasting a turkey in a cooking bag. Good idea or not?

Any opinions on the use of a roasting bag on the holiday bird? I have never done this but am thinking of giving it a try.

The bag allows you to slightly overcook the bird without drying it out. Better turkey and better food safety. Win-Win!

I usually just cook it in the packaging it comes in. If you aren’t going to eat the skin anyway, it s not big deal. Just cut some holes in it to vent.

Don’t forget the stove top stuffing - it’s the most important part of the meal.

Why would anyone do it not in a bag?

Buy the quality Reynolds brand and add flour before the bird.

Get it all set up, figure out the top side, cut some slits in the bag to not explode.

It holds all the juices in and does not leave a mess. There is not downside.

MOST IMPORTANT!!!! HAVE AND USE A TEMPERATURE MEASURE, PROPERLY CALIBRATED
IF YOU DO NOT OWN ONE.... BUY ONE!! BUY REMOTE DIGITAL READ OUTS, $20.00

USE THE GAUGE TO COOK THE TURKEY UNTIL TEMPERATURE IS 155 DEGREE FAHRENHEIT

PUSH THE GAUGE IN TO THE CORRECT SPOT TO READ, look on youtube in you do not know

When it reaches temp pull turkey out, cover it/tent it in foilfor 15-20 minutes

If you do not know how to carve off the meat watch a couple of 2-3 minute videos, it is worth it

ALSO- Little known fact. I heard, never tried myself, never needed too...
but I heard that those bag will contain the smell of even the skunkiest of skunk
if when anyone needs to transport some and not reek up the vehicle.

Yes I roasted the turkey in the bag. It was cooked and I picked it up and cooked more for 1.5 hours in the bag. It came out good.

my trumptard neighbor put a rotisserie chicken in a paper grocery bag and put it in the oven. It caused a kitchen fire. (His wife had left him at home when she went to her parents', so he was gonna show her by making his own dinner.)

If you don't have any roasting bags just wrap the turkey up with aluminum foil. It is the same effect.

A Puerto Rican man tried to deep fry his turkey, ended up taking down three buildings near his home with the resulting fire. Small MA Cape area town, stuff was like napalm, the fat and oil

I don't think you're supposed to deep fry a turkey in a cooking bag, but I could be mistaken.

Still spying on your neighbors I see. Cant you stop your sick obsession for one day? Do you know what my neighbors did on Thanksgiving? I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA. I have a life with family and friends I enjoyed it with and didn’t spend it peeking out my windows from behind the curtains spying on them. Nor have I ever done so. Get a life dude, you’ll be so much better off for it.
