not really. Edwards had an approval rating before the election in the mid-60s. Rispone was a complete unknown in the state other than those who knew him from his construction business. And the GOP picked up a super-majority in the state House and picked up state Senate seats and now hold a 25-14 advantage come January. They also held onto the secretary of state by a large margin and picked up a state supreme court seat.
As is usual nowdays, a massive and unexplainable turnout in one parish (Orleans) was the margin in a close governor's race. And, for some reason, almost none of these voters chose a secretary of state candidate, just the governor. This is always the way it is in Louisiana. They've had democrat governors forever, and it's always New Orleans that makes the difference. Just like it's always Mariposa County in Arizona that comes up with thousands of votes suddenly for the democrat candidates and it's always the Indian reservations in Montana that come up with thousands of democrat votes the trickle in after the polls close.
In most states, dems couldn't be elected dog catcher without voting fraud.
And guess what the very first bill to be introduced by the new democrat House in Virginia is: expanding voting flexibilities (i.e. voting fraud).
