The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is looking for a hit-and-run driver after an accident early Monday in Sterling.

STERLING, VA — Loudoun County sheriff's deputies are looking for a vehicle that struck a woman in the early-morning hours of Monday, Sept. 16, and then fled the scene. The unidentified woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff's office said.

The incident took place at about 3 a.m. Monday as the woman was walking in the roadway on Sterling Boulevard near Davis Drive in Sterling.

Deputies arrived at the scene after the woman was hit and searched the area, but they did not find the vehicle.

The vehicle is believed to be red in color, the sheriff's office said, and the case remains under investigation.
