NOAA's top scientist said Monday that he's investigating why the agency's leadership endorsed President Trump's false tweet that Alabama was in the path of Hurricane Dorian, after Birmingham-based meteorologists from the National Weather Service publicly pushed back on it.

In an email, Craig McLean, acting chief scientist of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, called the move by the agency to back the president inappropriate, suggesting it was politically motivated.

"I am pursuing the potential violations of our NOAA Administrative Order on Scientific Integrity," McLean wrote. "My understanding is that this intervention to contradict the forecaster was not based on science but on external factors including reputation and appearance, or simply put, political."

I thought the clip I saw about Trump threatening to fire people over the Alabama Dorian prediction was a joke. When I realize it was actual news I couldn't stop laughing.

The "clown show presidency" is the biggest understatement of the 4 years.

most liberal doctors in usa don't have the latest science and teach science from the 1800's quite literally

on the other hand the tech giant "Intel" often makes progress by "just trying things that might work" (and or studying failures) - following no science but the science for sure except the science of PROGRESS

make it smaller: fix it if it doesn't work. test modern theory only if it more likely works - no time to write papers on it: but make it work anyway or your fired. rule #1: only someone who has everything needed and a team to that can try something new is in the position to make progress - everyone else is just guessing.
