President Trump accidentally said this.
This statement flatly contradicting the ridiculous and utterly false narrative that he has spent months trying to sell. Trump apparently forgot his standard lie that China is somehow paying “billions of dollars” in tariffs, acknowledging instead that they are taxes paid by U.S. companies and, ultimately, the American consumer.
This reflects more than just the difficulty of juggling multiple lies. Evidence suggests that Trump is melting down. Again.

It may be tough for Apple to pay tariffs and be competitive with Samsung, however, in the long run it is impossible for the UNITED STATES to be competitive when we invest trillions of dollars in research and are then are forced to turn over that technology to China to produce it cheaper with a less expensive cost structure.
