Is impersonating a Veteran a crime?
Posted by: free meals ()

Some folks I know go to eating establishments say during Veteran's Day and try to mooch a free meal, they give a break to Vets on certain days. These folks are not Vets, but freeloaders. Is this a violation?

Meade would never do such an atrocious thing! I can name a few on this blog that might do something dastardly like that. Like for a free bowl of curry rice and goat stew with chopped grape leaves.

I always park in the “veterans” parking spot when I go to Harris teeter. No one has ever challenged me as to whether I’m a vet, but if they did, I’d just say I serve with the Space Force.

I don't know you but I'll bet you'd flunk the physical. Guys like you who post 24/7 usually are big fatsos.

If people like Eesh can get through basic, the bar is already set pretty low.

I like to think that was a fluke and he graduated last in his outfit, like the guy in "Full Metal Jacket", but you may have a point.

It isn’t overly hard to get through basic. It certainly isn’t easy, but you don’t need to be fit as flee at least before getting off the bus to get through. Just don’t be a lardass, be in reasonably good shape and have the desire and mental toughness to endure it.

In todays America it's only a crime if you impersonate John McCain.

Hardest part is fear of screwing up and being yelled at. You are reduced to a child almost and have to tolerate it. Nothing worse than returning home because you can't hack the mental stuff. Sometimes the big tough blowhards are the weakest, and the little kid from Bronx who was not babied by mommy is like leather.

What was the intent? If it is not being done with intent to defraud, it is not a crime.

The intent is to fool; no one gets hurt and I get a free roast beef dinner with all the fixins, or maybe a taco loaded! No harm in that and everyone is happy, the store writes it off as charity and my belly is satisfied. I knopw about military stuff from wagtchin TV so I bullshit the sexy waitress about my paratrooper exploits.
