Is hardwood still in?

I'm thinking of replacing all the carpet in my house with hardwood. Is hardwood still in? I see all these different floor materials and they cost about the same and look cheap and are full of chemicals.

Not a significant difference in chemicals between carpet and hardwood as long as you stick to upper grades(engineered) and try to avoid crap out of China.

Hardwood is always in; it never went out. Carpet is out; area rugs over hardwood are in.
