The lone valiant farmer struggling to eke an existence from his hardscrabble farm — that’s the image President Trump wants you to think about when contemplating the $28 billion in bailouts he’s spending to cover farm losses from his trade war.
Think again. The vast majority of the dollars flowing to the agriculture industry via the bailouts is likely to go to farms with annual revenues of several million dollars. Most of them are major beneficiaries of federal crop support programs that steer billions in subsidies and low-priced crop insurance — including insurance that already covers some of their losses in the trade war.

That will never happen. Farmers in Alabama outlawed all illegal immigrants from working. It only took six months and almost all the Alabama farms were out of business.
The Alabama farmers went running back to the state capital begging for an emergency bill to repeal the bill.

I forgot to mention that the Alabama farmers tried to get homeless and young Americans to work the fields. They lasted two days and quit. The jobs were too hard and didn't pay enough for an American.

Sadly (for you), the money for the subsidies came from the money the Treasury collected in tariffs. So, worse case, it was a wash. The Treasury has collected over $30 billion in tariffs as of May, so it's actually better than worse case.
