Robert E. Lee was a great man!
Posted by: Not a traitor ()
Date: May 16, 2019 05:10PM

He could not turn his back on his own people of Virginia. He defended his home state and his country. After the war, Lee wanted reconciliation between North and South. A woman complained to him about a tree destroyed on her property by the Yankees. His response was "Cut it down, and forget it!". God Bless General Robert E. Lee !

The only “crime” General Lee committed was not betraying his race or home state. The American civil war was one of the first conflicts where we learned the true threat posed by Jews and socialists. When the victors write the history books, even the most venerable of men see their names dragged in the mud.

A lot of his strategy is studied at West Point and other Academies. Both in wins and defeat; defeats sometimes tells more than victories. He was gracious and humble and loyal to an idea.

It's true. The Democrats back then were actually good guys. They were fighting against the Illuminati Deep State and Zionist run government, which Lincoln was apart.

He was a great General and did want reconciliation. He obviously was a traitor by the very definition of the word. Civil war was a black mark on our history, the confederacy was a black mark on mankind.

Well, a couple:

He committed treason against his country and waged war against military the he once served in.

The amount of American blood he has on his hands would be an ISIS wet dream

By the way, in the defense of slavery.

Other than that, I don't have much problem with him.

Except, it wasn't a Civil War. It was a war between states. The South didn't want control over the US Government. They formed their own nation.

The blood was on Abe Lincoln's hands. It was over economics, not slavery. That is another liberal lie. He defended his homeland- which was the Commonwealth of Virginia. The South was invaded first, by force by Federal terrorists.

Well, to the extent that slavery was the foundation of the southern economy, you could say that. The confederates said it was over slavery.

You don't think they were lying, do you?

It was over tariffs:

8. What did the South fight for?

IT FOUGHT TO REPEL INVASION AND FOR SELF-GOVERNMENT, JUST AS THE FATHERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION HAD DONE. Lincoln himself confessed at first that he had no constitutional right to make war against a State, so he resorted to the subterfuge of calling for troops to suppress "combinations" of persons in the Southern States "too powerful to be suppressed by the ordinary" processes. It is impossible to understand how the Southern States could have proceeded in a more regular and formal manner than they did to show they acted as States and not as mere "combinations." It shows the lack of principle that characterized Lincoln when later he referred to the Southern States as "insurrectionary States." If the Federal Government had no power to make war upon a State, how could it be called insurrectionary?

I live on his son's former plantation land which was formerly Robert E. Lee's Mother in Law's Land. Ravensworth Land Grant wherein the plantation was at the current Ravensworth Shopping Center at Braddock and 495.
The local history BEFORE this land grant is very interesting.
Besides that, to answer the Civil War question.

Lincoln knew he was screwed when the south succeeded as the North depending upon the South's plentiful cotton crops.

The south knew it would be screwed if the north voted to abolish slavery or at least their economy would be greatly effected.
South Carolina made it clear that their succession was over this issue.

Also, the North's huge advantage over the south due to tariffs economically. The tariffs actually largely benefited the North and not the South. The south was "barely making it" while the North prospered.

For a break down on the issue of Tariffs see:
https://nonrevisionistcivilwarfacts.wordpress.com/northern-tariffs/

The south already burdened by the disparity with the North over tariffs now faced the real possibility that the human capital which drove the largest plantations would be taken away and that their economy would not survive and so the succession began. South Carolina was particularly open and frank about their fear of losing slavery and put it into writing as reason for succession.

Both the issue of tariffs and the prospect of losing slavery together propelled the Southern States to succeed from the Union.

The North, in turn, (LINCOLN) made the decision to invade the south and "beat it into submission" through warfare in the deadliest war experienced by the populace of our land.

I believe Robert E. Lee was a decent man.

The issue of slavery would have been resolved without 800,000 lives lost to war.

Lincoln, the "hero" or the "Tyrant"?
What say ye?

He was faced with armed insurrection. He broke some rules combating this insurrection, we have not even mentioned things like suspension of habeas corpus yet. And in the end he preserved the Union and made life in America as we know it possible.

He was probably both.

A former slave of his said Lee was "the cruelest man" she ever knew. She was a great character witness because she actually knew him for a good period of her life, unlike a bloated, uneducated, unmarried, bigoted, underemployed, and demon seeing asshole from Richmond.

The single biggest cost to making a product always been, and always will be the physical labor. The war of northern aggression started in 1861. Within 10 years of then machines would have replaced a great deal of the physical labor on farms. Had the formation of the CSA been a successful endeavor, slavery would have faded out just on economics alone. Which brings up another point, slaves were not cheap. As such a vast majority(less than %30 actually owned a slave) of southerners did not abuse their slaves as socialist revisionists would have you believe.

I'm not defending slavery. The practice has existed since the dawn of man, and is still alive and well in moozie countries, which by the way have enslaved just as many caucasions as they have blacks over the centuries. If you really have a problem with the practice of enslaving your fellow man you should be talking about punishing muslim/islam for continuing the practice to this day.

Of course, it is fallacy ridden. It is a fucking Meade post.

If a slave had Meade's work ethic, he would be whipped to death before his 14th birthday.

Being born white is the one thing Meade couldn't fuck up. That is why he makes such a fuss over it,

There is some truth to this. Lee had way too much faith in himself, and his troops. His best option was to fight a defensive war, but twice, while enjoying positions of relative strength, he decided to try to end the war all at once by invading the north. He failed, both times, and squandered resources (his men) that he would need later.

He had a pretty good run of it in 1862 and the first half of 1863, but that was more Union incompetence than anything. In reality, Grant and Sherman were better generals, and even Joe Johnston was better a fighting the war that the Civil War would become after Gettysburg

Grant and Sherman were low life drunks/mass murderers. Like most libtards, they didn't really care about people, only pretended. And you know they didn't care about Negro slaves either. Just like libtard Lincoln.

Both of Lee's invasions of the north started out well. The first time he wiped out the Federal garrison of Harper's Ferry and was able to cut one of the four trunk lines between the east coast and the midwest and forced the Federals to strip their troops from what is now West Virginia. The second time he decimated the Federal forces in the lower Shenandoah Valley, cut two trunk lines between the east coast and midwest and then decimated two Federal corps on the first day of Gettysburg. What Lee forgot was that when he was operating in Virginia he could rely on the local population for information about the enemy. Once he moved north of the Potomac the situation was reversed. It was the Federals who were able to get information from the population about Lee, while Lee could only find out what the Federals were doing when they were actually in contact with his forces. During both Antietam and Gettysburg Federal forces were able to move far more quickly than Lee anticipated because of this information advantage.

Even if Lee had played it safer, husbanding his resources, those additional resources would not have made a difference in the outcome of the war. The Civil War was won in the west. Fall of 1861 saw the Confederate Army that would become known as the Army of Tennessee in Columbus and Bowling Green Kentucky. In April of 1865 what was left of that army was in central North Carolina.

Anyone reading history will know Lee was in fact great as a General. He was very torn at the start of the Civil War and indeed felt cursed for his dilemma. Technically its impossible not to call him a traitor - he was the text book definition as were all the civil war military. Just the way it is.
