Australia Says It's "Ready To Confirm" A Key Meeting That Led To The Investigation Into Trump's Russia Links

Heavily-redacted documents released to BuzzFeed News show
Australia's former high commissioner wrote a three-page cable
to the United States about his London meeting with a Trump
campaign adviser.

A senior Australian diplomat has said the government is
"now ready to confirm" a series of events in 2016 between
the country's high commissioner to the UK and a Trump
campaign adviser, which led to US authorities investigating
Donald Trump's links with Russia.

The London meeting between former high commissioner Alexander
Downer and Trump adviser George Papadopoulos was first
reported by the New York Times in December 2017, reportedly
revealing how Downer had been told by Papadopoulos that
Russia had political dirt on Hillary Clinton.

Won’t matter. If the Aussie’s confirm they dropped the dime on Papadopolous, the whole conspiracy about the dossier being illegal becomes moot. It shows that the FBI had good reason to start an investigation. Anyone accused of ‘spying on Trump’ can just point to the diplomatic cable from Australia.

Criminals are always claiming they’ve been set up or unfairly targeted by law enforcement. And it’s usually something they’re laughed at for.

There was no indication or evidence of any collusion at the time. There has been sworn testimony by Page and Comey and others to that effect which has been released. The meetings with Papadopolous were a set up. The only "Russians" that he ever met with were intelligence assets. The information about the Russians having dirt on Clinton was fed to him by a US intelligence asset.
