seems like a good night for this, so here goes:
Have you ever heard a low rumbling noise, when you're indoors and all is quiet? Many millions of people have...it's described as the sound of a diesel engine running, from several blocks away, muffled, yet still resonant enough to cause serious discomfort. The Hum is usually stronger/more perceptible indoors than out, and usually only becomes stronger the more one tries to mask the sound with environmental stimuli. Some say it is the sound of rocks communing with one another...some say it's alien communication lost in the atmosphere...still some say it's a mind-control plot by the governments of the world--a low, 10mhz frequency that is always present but perceived by only the most sensitive among us--that hidden messages are embedded within the frequency. I personally believe that The Hum is an acoustic frequency generated by the drilling of tunnels deep--miles and miles deep--underneath the earth's crust. It is a government program. A shadow society is being constructed in preparation for an inevitable nuclear winter...some argue whether or not the government is also behind the coming nuclear war...some say it's a conspiracy to start World War III, with the intention of bringing about a complete and total nuclear holocaust. I myself tend to think that the government is only drilling these holes in the expectation (and a well-founded expectation it is) that someday soon, whether by aggression or by accident, numerous nuclear warhead will be detonated, in effect clouding the planet in a radioactive haze--sunlight will not be able to penetrate the cloud of debris for generations to come, and all life on the earth's surface will die a certain death. In this light, it seems appropriate that we should praise our government for what it's doing. But the ugly truth is that only the elite, the rich and the well-connected will be allowed to continue life underneath the earth's surface.
But, back to The Hum for a moment: why is it that only a very small percentage of people can hear it? Well, a lot of it has to do with location. The major drilling operations are currently taking place in or around the big island of Hawaii, Taos, New Mexico, parts of Iowa, Cornwall, England, and Korea. So, with some exception, residents of those parts of the country/world are the only ones liable in the first place to pick up on it. Second, it remains a fact that most human beings are not very perceptive in this day and age. The ever-growing dependence on technology and dulling of our primal instincts has made it so that most people wouldn't recognize the sound of a tornado right outside their window, let alone a low, 10mhz-or-less hum generated by the vibrations of earth hundreds of miles below. And about these tunnels: they aren't just tunnels...to keep referring to them as such would be to give you the wrong idea...the tunneling below earth's surface is only one part...the bigger part of the picture is this: a city the size of New York is being constructed underneath every major city on the surface of our country (as well as the world, but that deserves it's own explanation elsewhere). Each subterranean capital is connected by what can only be termed as 'underground freeway' systems. In short, there will be as much room to move about, as much diversity of locations, and enough everyday stuff (malls, bowling alleys, gas stations, museums, etc.) underneath us as there is today, amongst us.
So, is it ultimately a bad thing? Maybe not, if you think of humanity in the same cold, desperate terms of survival that our government seems to. But, it begs the question: what good is a society--what good is life--when only the genetically perfect, the wealthy, and the elite are allowed to participate. I do not have the answer to this question. But I do have the answer to the one I posed at the beginning of this article: "have you ever heard a low rumbling noise, when you're indoors and all is quiet?"
If so...well, my friend, then you've not just heard the acoustic vibrations of the earth's crust being drilled--what you've heard, more than anything else, is the demise of life on earth as we know it--and the desperate attempt by those running the show to preserve humanity, by whatever means necessary!

I apologize to those I unfairly hurt. To Harry Tuttle in particular.
