Brexit - Ain't Never Happening

So the shit has finally hit the fan, and it is now becoming apparent to everyone what many of us knew back in June 2016: Brexit ain't never happening.

As is often the case with these sorts of things, there are two different primary reasons: the ostensible reason, and the real reason.

In this case, the ostensible reason is a pretty good one as far as these things go. Namely, the UK has a major problem that they keep papering over for decades if not centuries, and it's called Northern Ireland. Blame Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, Bloody Mary, Elizabeth I . . . but they are still dealing with the repercussions of this whole Catholic/Anglican thing 500 years later. The fuckers in Northern Ireland want to be Irish like their Catholic kinsmen to the south, but they also want to be part of the UK so they can protect their Protestant status.

But if the UK is going to be cleaved from the EU, the cleaver has to strike somewhere and that somewhere would logically be at the border between the UK and the EU, and that border extends between Ireland (which is still in the EU) and Northern Ireland.

But the fuckers in Northern Ireland (who have seats in Parliament) HATE and will not accept a hard border between Ireland and Norther Ireland. So some folks say, fine, you can have a soft border with Ireland, but then we will have to impose a hard border between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.

But the fuckers in Northern Ireland won't stand for that, either.

In the good old days, this kind of thing would have been settled the old fashioned way: with men and arms. But irrational present day humans have made war - the greatest engine ever produced for resolving disputes once and for all - very difficult if not impossible to wage.

Meaning that it becomes literally impossible to cleave the UK from the EU.

England and Wales should withdraw from the UK and leave Northern Ireland and Scotland to their own device. But they won't do that, and absent that, it is pretty hard to see how the UK can ever be cleaved from the EU.

So that is the ostensible reason that Brexit will be scotched (pun noted).

The REAL reason that Brexit was never going to happen is that the elite, one-world-order, ruling class hated it from the beginning and has done everything in their power to throw sand in the gears and grind the process to a halt.

So there will be another referendum and the elite ruling class will be sure to count the votes better this time around.

Thus endeth the lesson, and thus endeth Brexit.

I don't agree with much of what the OP wrote, but as someone with property and family in the UK I find it interesting to read how Americans view Brexit compared to how Brits see it.

Please feel free to share your opinion (as opposed to just stating that you disagree with someone else's).

BTW, your post is flawed. How Americans view Brexit? Ask ten different Americans who are at least moderately informed on the subject, and you;ll get eleven different "views." I'll bet its the same for Brits.

My logic is fine. You are assuming because I used the word "Americans" I meant that only in aggregate. The term applies just as well to a collection of individual opinions.

My opinion would run longer than the OP's, but here is the very shortened version. The original Brexit vote outcome was the result of strains within the United Kingdom as much or more than it was with Britain's continued relationship with the EU. Those same strains are one of the three major reasons why Britain wasn't able to work out an acceptable deal with the EU. The other two reasons are unrealistic expectations by the English Brexiteers of what a relationship with the EU would be like post Brexit and the EU being pissed off that Britain would leave, plus probably fearful of what that would do to European unity. The Irish border is simply something for the UK and the EU to fight over.
