Probably customer loyalty. But those customers have been dying off and younger consumers have no problem going to Best Buy and loading up and installing their own HDTV and sound system.

Their prices were high, but they always had staff who knew what they were talking about, unlike the dopes at Best Buy.

This is true. But I think most people have become tech savvy enough to set up this stuff on their own. Or, as the article says, they can look up the solutions to problems on the Internet.

MyerEmco was a good place to go if you had alot of questions and wanted to hear from an expert. Then you could drive over to Circuit City and know what you're looking for.
The MyerEmco in Tysons also sold some nice audio shelves and TV furnishings. I bought my TV stand there a few years ago. It was expensive, but this fuckin thing is built to last. It's thick glass and sturdy, heavy steel. Not like the junk they sell at Best Buy or CC. This friggin thing could withstand a missile strike.
