Meade lacks' the self-awareness to know how he really comes across. The claims of "'colored' isn't racist" ignore the fact that 'colored' has been considered racist for a long time. He knows this, it has gotten him in trouble before and he still says it and justifies it by saying that is the problem of people choose to be offended by it.

Alienating any potential audience with his bigotry is not going to let Meade get a career in the public eye...

If a person knows a word is offensive to others and they continue to use it, they are choosing to offend others. That is not really difficult to comprehend.

The "NAACP"was named during the Jim Crow era because it was the least offensive word they can use at the time. The problem with using it today is it evokes a time when blacks were legally considered second class citizens. Thank God most of us have progressed past that.

His mother died when he was 12 (a tragedy to be sure), and I think he couldn't cope, so on a mental level has remained permanently in his childhood where he still had a mother figure.

That is a problem with our society. Too many 18-30-year-olds live with their parents and don't want to get out in the real world and support themselves. If they heard Meade, They might relate to Meade's adventures, but is that really a good thing?
