USA demands we buy certain products "too meet it's safety code" - they all used to be Made in USA infact some unions specifically dis-allowed workers to use any non-USA products on any site whatsoever. But many of products have been outsourced to China - made only in China.
Furthermore, some NEW safety requirements seem ridiculously added and are made only in China: it's not a far cry to assume regulators are making deals with China and taking kick-backs.
Should Government ever use non-USA products in taxpayer funded builds?
But Question is: should USA government be "allowed" to demand you buy imports to meet their "regulations" ?
Example 1:
to get a building permit you have to use a Chinese wall plug in a restroom of a new residential home (only china makes the kind they specify - usa makes every other kind if you shop (leviton at homedepot but not lowes) )
Example 2: fuses (the glass-wire kind)
usa might make fuses but they are impossible to find. should USA GOVERNMENT be able to "demand" fuses be use if USA no longer makes fuses ?
china avoids use of any USA imports and many of their products aren't allowed in usa (though they get here) because they are unsafe

shouldn't USA Government have to shut up if they allow the complete shutdown of all companies in USA that make some particular safety product that is no longer made ?
