Opening this topic just for the sake of balance, since Obama lovers like to selectively post only news favorable to POTUS.

Do you mean the $1.6 trillion in the President's budget?

Or, do you mean this one?

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House on Thursday voted to allow the government to go $1.9 trillion deeper in debt — an increase of about $6,000 more for every U.S. resident that provided a vivid election-year reminder of the nation's perilous financial condition.

The huge debt increase, approved 217-212, is only enough to keep the government afloat for about another year as it borrows more than 40 cents of every dollar it spends on programs like defense, health care, feeding the poor and protecting the environment. The budget tops $3.7 trillion this year and the deficit's approaching $1.6 trillion under the budget submitted by President Barack Obama this week.

Here is the budget breakdown. Please explain where Obama is going to cut $1 trillion?

chart.gif

I would like to point out that since 1980, there has been one Democrat (besides Obama) as President, and he left the country with a budget surplus. Blaming Obama for the Reagan Legacy of Massive debt is ridiculous. Where were all these teabaggers when Bush double our debt from $5 trillion to $10 trillion?

Because cutting spending is the only way to balance a budget. You really are too smart to buy into the myth of the Clinton surplus. Even Democrat Fritz Hollings called out the lie in 1999.

The way Bush did when he created the largest Medicare benefit since LBJ? Or his military spending???

You can't cut the interest on our debt. The only way to save $1 trillion would be to slash Medicare and Defense by at least 50%. Are the Republicans in Congress going to vote for that? Because that's what it would take. And there would be huge implications for the economy if we did that. We most certainly would be in a Depression after that.

Bullshit. Point to a stat produced by something other than a Republican Think Tank to back up your claim.

Again, cuts are not the only way to balance a budget. It's a simple concept that even you can understand.

I don't give a fuck what the Republican are prepared to do. They aren't in power. The Democrats need to lead.

Actually, he has been proven right. Only a diehard partisan with an agenda would cling to the surplus myth. If there was such a surplus, why was Al Gore clamoring for a "lock box" on social security? He knew Hollings was right.

Unfortunately with Obama sliding down the ratings pole, WTL has become more partisan. Not sure what that is about other then him trying to defend the piss poor showing so far by ignoring reality. Hollings was proven correct - they said that this year they actually are seeing Soc Sec pay out more than it takes in. And the so called surplus that SS "has" is nothing more then IOUs pushed by the Treasury on "interest" the money would have earned if it had not already been spent. Supposedly it will break even again for a couple of more years after this, but then it is all downhill - pretty amazing when you think about it - all these years we have been content to sit back and watch these idiots "balance" the budget by spending money for SS. And yet the Federal government is the first one to criticize airlines and such for underfunding their retirement liabilities.

Yes, I call you partisan and you call me Vince. OOh hurt me lol.

Vince is a fucking idiot, you are becoming one. If that is the best you can do - calling me Vince - have at it. I laugh every time you think you are "getting me" with it. You don't want to admit you are having issues lately, not much more can be done other to keep laughing at your partisan posturing.

Others always noted I had a partisan bent, so nothing new there. I just don't come around telling you all to sniff each others nut sacks or lick assholes like other fuckwits here seem to get off on. But hey, you want to be hangin with the 15yr old crowd, feel free.

Great, so they PM you. Obviously they believe you are "getting me". Good for them.

I also have PMs from the unnamed one I have never read, just deleted. He evidently felt you were doing so well it emboldened him to PM me. Joy :) We all have our reasons to post here and elsewhere - I know some folks that like what I post, and some that don't. Oh well. Comes with the territory.

Right. Bush from $5T to $10T - Obama will take us to at least $20T (especially if he goes two terms - then it will be closer to $25T). That's some leadership for you. Keep trying Fairy.

Best you keep blaming Bush - that way you can keep your head in the sand for a while longer.
