Poll of Republicans Met With Shock, SkepticismUpdated: 1 day 1 hour ago

(Feb. 3) -- Most Republicans think Barack Obama is a socialist and Sarah Palin is more qualified than him to be president. Most either think Obama wasn't born in the U.S. or aren't sure. Nearly 40 percent want him impeached. Those are a few of the results in a Daily Kos poll that's shaking up the blogosphere.

The liberal Web site commissioned Research 2000 to survey more than 2,000 self-identified Republicans last month. Site founder Markos Moulitsas -- the "Kos" in Daily Kos -- called the results "nothing short of startling."

A few more nuggets from the poll:

21 percent believe the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) stole the 2008 election and 55 percent aren't sure.
31 percent believe Obama is a racist who hates white people and 33 percent aren't sure.
23 percent want their state to secede from the U.S. and 19 percent aren't sure.
Only 26 percent favor letting openly gay Americans serve in the military.
67 percent believe the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus Christ.

What, did they go to Utah or something to perform this poll? Or maybe a retirement community in Florida run by a religious group - that seems more likely.

Well, 37% of respondants were over 60. That should tell you something right there. Conversely, A Rasmussen poll from May of 2007 found that 61 percent of Democrats either believed that George Bush knew about the 9/11 terror attack in advance or aren't sure. I think with those numbers, it is safe to say a majority of Democrats are in fact 9/11 Truthers.

I know some people from my hometown who are caught up in this teabag nonsense. Except for that secession one, they'd agree with all that stuff. Arguing politics with them is both funny and scary. Republicans from an educated place like our county don't fall for it, but I think alot of Americans are dumb enough to believe that stuff.

You thought Tim Tebow's Super Bowl ad was the only one causing a stir? Think again. According to the Washington Post, failed Presidential hopeful and Sarah Palin running mate, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), has criticized a Census Bureau decision to spend $2.5 million for a 30-second ad during Sunday's game. McCain argued the spending decision is "symptomatic of the spending practices of the federal government and the Congress in a way that is completely out of touch with what's going on out there in the real world."

I thank God every day we did not elect this feeble, cantankerous, fool of an old man to the most powerful position on Earth. On Sunday, The Super Bowl will be watched by roughly 60 million Americans. $2.5 million for the commercial, divided by 60M captivated viewers, equals a cost of 4.2 cents per set of eyeballs. This price tag is cheaper than any direct mailing or phone banking to create awareness. If anything, McCain should be sending the Census Bureau and the NFL a thank you note.

If you are too stupid to know the census is going on, you quite frankly don't deserve to be counted or your share of the federal largesse.

So, you never wanted the cantankerous fool of an old man? How is the impotent, egotistical buffoon working out for you?

The only things I know about the Census is what Michelle Bachmann is saying about it. Is her information different than what the Census people want to communicate?

If that is all you know, you definitely don't deserve to be counted. The US government has successfully conducted over 20 censuses. Amazingly, they were conducting them before the Super Bowl even came into existence.

That's all I know because I listen to WMAL and watch Fox News for my news and information. Sean, Rush abd Bill are very clear in telling me to stay away from the main street media, and that all I need to do is listen to them and watch Fox News to get my information.

Did you know the Census may be actually counting illegals?

Did you know ACORN was involved as Census workers.

Did you know that the Census information may be used to gather certain people up and throw them in work camps?

I son't know what the "main street media" is. Which one of these organizations are you referring to?

http://www.mainstreetmediainc.com/

http://www.mainstreetmediagroup.com/Pages/main.htm

http://www.mainstreetmg.com/

http://www.mainstreetmedia.org/about-main-street-media

They all seem like OK organizations for what they do, but I would agree that they are probably not the best options for getting news about the census.

So, what you are saying is, people that rely on Fox News and talk radio for their news and information should not be counted. I will go with you on that one.

I am saying that if people solely rely on FOXNews, talk radio, MSNBC, Air America, Howard Stern, MoveOn.org or any other form of filtered information without looking at any other source or evaluating information for themselves, they do not deserve to be counted. I am also saying that if you need a Super Bowl commercial for you to be aware that a census is taking place, you don't deserve to be counted.

So, why are you relying on one of those "main street media" organizations? They look like a bunch of web developers and small town newspaper publishers. Is that really where you get your information?

That would be some of the mis-information the Census has to deal with.

A piece of shit poll by Kos?

Tell me, how seriously would any progressive/liberal types on this board, such as FUNdamental, take a poll conducted by, say, Michael Savage, who is the rough equivalent on the right of Kos on the left?

You would, at best, take it with a grain of salt.

You would, more likely, dismiss it as a joke.

Likewise this poll by Kos.

The same would apply if Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck held a poll, any poll.

Really? My opinion is mis-information that the Census Bureau must deal with? Is that what the "main street media" is telling you?

How so, Joe? Once again, you lie. He said certain people don't DESERVE to be counted, not that they SHOULDN'T be counted. You seem as intelligent as FUNdamental. I suppose you subscribe to the "main street media" feed. You are probably a product of the FCPS.
