- the glut of "specialty hamburger" chains (like 5 Guys, Cheeburger,Backyard Burger), seriously, enough is enough

- any show involving regular every day people showing off "talent"

- grocery stores that ask for some charitable donation with every purchase, "Would you like to donate a dollar for 'Toddlers with HIV'?"-- this shit is annoying, regardless of how good the charity is.

It's funny you brought this up. That was actually the inspiration for this thread. I was listening to "3" from Britney Spears and thought, "Seriously, what the fuck? When is this going to end?"

Like "Flipping Out." Is it just my perception, or is Bravo now more gay than LOGO?

Yes. I remember when Bravo used to show nothing but obscure independent films and Saab commercials. Now, it is just junk TV that is as superficial as E! network.

No I'll miss them because the "It's cold out where's global warming!" is stupid and a retarded way to try to argue against the issue.

You're right, the best way to argue is to put false claims in official UN documents outlining the effects of global warming.

The "Big One" may or may not come within five years. I think odds are pretty good Detroit will be an official ghost town by then.

Maybe they could make Detroit a new northern space port once the dust settles. I mean, New Mexico is all good and well, but Detroit would be a lot easier to reach if you have to catch a flight from say, Canada... :)

Maybe the next public works project could be to build the world's largest bulldozer to be used to scrape Detroit into the Detroit River.

Just use one of the transport sleds they use for the Shuttle and other space launches and stick a building sized set of steel plates on the front of it on some lift arms. That thing is big enough to probably knock a building over - although I suppose they could just drop a MOAB first to clear the tall buildings...

In either case, both options increase the odds that the Caps won't face the Red Wings for the Stanley Cup.

That's a pretty white girl.
I'm surprised she would let an ugly Chimpanzee looking fucker like that hit it.

Gotta love the expression on his face though. Must be some good-ass pussy.

"going green"...I know there's serious shit going on with the environment and junk, but I think 95% of the whole 'green movement' thing is bullshit. People who want to feel good about themselves and 'be part of a cause' rather than actually caring about and doing something about environmental matters.

Whole Foods...guess what, people: the food you buy at Whole Foods is the same exact shit you'll find at Safeway, only more expensive. All our food comes from the same damn stinking asshole of a place...it's the price you pay for having a large population of people to feed, and there's no way around it. You lemmings who shop at Whole Foods and only eat 'cage free' and 'farm fresh' and 'locally grown' and all that shit are doing nothing but paying extra to reinforce your own higher-than-thou bullshit delusions.

honey bees. Just die already.

girls wearing black nail polish. I've always found this very off-putting.

high-waisted pants on girls. I hate fads, but I LOVED it back in the late 90's/early 2000's when girls wore their pants down around their snatches. Let's bring that back.

indie rock...but I know this is just wishful thinking. Rock stopped being good the second "'n roll" got dropped from the name. "Rock" music has no rhythm--no beat--no soul--it's music made by honkies, for honkies. Cracker-ass crackers...

the idea that being ironic equals comedy. It was fun for a while, but you can only stomach so many Chuck Norris jokes and ironic t-shirts.

the phrase, "It's on like Donkey-Kong", "my boo", and "crunk"

People thinking that biologically engineered foods are bad for you...think about it: science has improved just about every aspect of our lives in the last century. Food is no different. If you could grow a 50 pound tomato that could feed a small third world village, then why the fuck wouldn't you?

Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc.

Michael Moore...hopefully of a massive coronary. Not because of his politics, but because he's a shitty documentarian.

tattoos. I can't wait for the day when some bimbo with a tramp stamp turns 80 and has a big amorphous blob of faded ink peeking out over her Depends. Enough with the tattoos. You wanna be different...don't get a fucking tattoo.

and last, America. We had a good run, but it's obvious our little empire here is winding down.

...I'm in a bad mood.

That is freaking annoying. I love how when you say 'no' they look at you like you've just killed a puppy. I think my standard line is now going to be "Oh, is (insert store name here) going to be matching my donation?" Or maybe "No, what I would like is for (insert store name here) to make a donation for Toddlers with HIV, that's what I would like"

You know they don't do any kind of matching. They don't want to give up any of their money, but they're more than happy to try to guilt you out of yours.

For awhile Starbucks was trying to get people to buy a lb of coffee for 'the troops'. I have no problem doing that, but shouldn't Starbucks be paying for half the coffee? They claim to be footing the bill for the shipping, but you know it doesn't cost them $12 for a lb of coffee....so even with shipping costs, they're boosting their bottom line and using "the troops" to do so.

Even worse is that most of the time these are just kids whose parents don't want to pay for their extra-curricular activities. Girl scouts, baseball, etc.--pay for your own kids! I already subsidize people who choose to have kids by paying taxes to support public schools, the EITC, dependent tax credits, etc., the least they can do is pay for their activities. This is one reason I avoid Giant like the plague. Say what you will about Whole Foods and Wegman's, at least when I leave I'm not ambushed by a bunch of little fuckers trying to guilt me into buying shit I don't need or want.

He was summoned to appear before one of Obama's death panels and was never seen or heard from again. Now the jackbooted government thugs use him home to provide refuge to al Qaeda. Right here within our own borders.

This was turned into an "eesh" thread before it was turned into a political thread.

It doesn't matter because he's a Republican. Republicans are allowed to get five deferments or blow off their Air National Guard responsibilities to go partying. Democrats can serve in a combat zone and lose limbs and they are still unAmerican cowards. Don't you understand the Republican world view yet?

Still on, sadly. In fact, virtually all of this stuff is still around.
