Yes he received money for doing a charity concert about $300,000 or so. And he donated over a million dollars to the charity. And as a founder of the charity he has the right to be paid something. Actually it is expected. The personal appearances he has made and the benefits he has bought to the charity have been worth millions more.

This is how charities work. It is not only routine, according to the IRS, it is expected.


And believe it or not, Sean Hammity gets money from his Freedom Concerts. He says "a portion of the proceeds go to charities to help the troops" Does he tell you what portion? No he does not.

There are tons of nonprofits set up the way Wyclef has set up his. The fact is, he can probably skate by with a minimal penalty from the IRS, but the windfall is more than worth the risk. It is more of a question of being unethical versus illegal. The foundation undoubtedly would get an "F" rating from most nonprofit watchdog groups.
