My "local" grocer is Aldi, and man has it been a godsend. I could shop regularly at Whole Foods if I wanted to, and I used to go to Wegmans semi-weekly for my grocery needs, but since Aldi moved nearby, I don't go anywhere else. I've been amazed at the top quality produce and meats offered by the German based grocery chain. I used to be a devout buyer of Heinz products and thought even considering buying Hunts or other brands of condiments was heresy. I can't tell the difference between Heinz, French's or the "knock off" brands sold at Aldi. THe people are great too. I've saved probably a couple thousand making the switch from the top-shelf grocers to Aldi. I hear from friends in Ashburn that Lidl is equally impressive.

I take care of the produce dept at a local store. I work 7 till 4 and get an hour for lunch. If you need to know about what is the freshest or how long something might need to ripen I can help you with that. I do not wish to talk to you as I have work to do. Please do not follow me around and talk, I have people at home I enjoy interacting with unlike you. Please leave me the fuck alone.

This is not your local grocer. Its obvious from the lack of satisfaction, poor education, and improper grammar/expletives. Your local grocer will help you, in fact they'll be impressed if you get to know them. Spending time with your produce manager, is an experience that is mutually beneficial. A excellent produce manager will want feedback. This means that from understanding their customers, along with reports on the fruits and vegetables quality, they will know what is popular and what might need some work.

Produce managers as a rule like people. They signed up for this calling, are well educated, super smart yet humble, and quite a few of them went to high end high schools/universities. These people know a lot about agriculture. Don't be surprised if when visiting a farm, that you see a produce manager or one of his designated employees, doing surprise inspections/building relationships to bring you fresh foods at your local grocer.

Went in back to ask my grocer if he had any more ripe mangoes - I caught him mid-quiver squatting over a palate of seedless grapes. He was spraying hot liquid shit everywhere. Fuck. What an angry fucker he must be.

I didnt say a word I just turned my back and left to the sound of another splattering salvo of his hideous mischief

Another person at your local grocer who's important is the receiver. It is not a glamorous position, but be sure to say hello to them. These people are responsible for getting foodstuffs off of the truck, or working with vendors. This person may work in the back but everything up front is because of them.

Former area grocer arrested for not paying sales tax

RIPP/TYNDALL/SCOTLAND — A man who abruptly closed three rural grocery stores last year has recently been charged for failing to pay seven months’ worth of sales tax.

Mark Mora — former owner of Tyndall, Tripp and Scotland’s Corner Grocery stores — is accused of failing to pay sales tax for the businesses between September 2016 and March 2017, according to recently filed court documents.

Mora and his wife, Pam, of Tripp, operated the stores for less than one year and closed all three with a week’s notice in March 2017. At that time, the Moras did not give a reason why they were closing the stores. They only placed a letter on their storefronts notifying people the markets would soon be going out of business.

A recent study made by researcher Charles Gerba on the cleanliness of grocery carts concluded that grocery carts are not as clean as they look. This conclusion was made after swabbing and doing analyses of 85 samples of grocery carts in 4 states.

Results of the analyses showed that 72% of the carts were found to have fecal matter present. Half of those positive results also tested positive for the bacteria E. coli. The majority of the spots where E. coli was found were on the handlebars of grocery carts, indicating that a lot of people don’t properly wash their hands after visiting the bathroom.

Reusethisbag.com surveyed more than 100 grocery stores of varying size in 10 states in September 2017 and commissioned EMLab P&K in Ohio to test surfaces for bacteria.

Large swaths of harmful bacteria were found on almost all surfaces at upscale and budget, large and small grocery stores.

The study found the most harmful bacteria count on shopping carts.
Upscale supermarkets had the highest germ count in the produce aisle.

Last time I checked your local grocer or mine is not in Scotland. And here in the land of the red, white, and blue a Cart Employee washes each one with sanitizer to guarantee cleanliness and a germ free environment. Plus these people often have a lollipop for children, and quite often load your bagged food stuffs with care! Your local grocer is a wonderful place.

Highly unlikely but if you have a receipt, that being the paper proof of purchase, your local grocer will let you exchange or refund this.

My suggestion is to first let the produce manager know. He or she will check the remaining fruits, and you might just get an extra item for free for providing feedback. Your local grocer and you have a relationship, and it is a two way street.

I would like to take a second to point out your horrible posts and how you try to set up your rant.

At this point it’s more than obvious when you start a post anonymously then only reply back to it incessantly like you are just agreeing to another board member.

Let’s face the facts Gerry. Over the past two years you’ve posted almost 17600 posts with the name Trump in the subject. That’s over 25 posts per day on average. This of course doesn’t include posts you start anonymously or answer back when using one of your many other monikers. In my estimation the true number is likely two to three times as what’s really know by simple search.

We all understand how butthurt you are that President Trump was elected and will serve eight glorious years erasing what you thought would be a lasting legacy. That said, we (FFU), are tired of your banal posts. Please stop posting!

P.S. Motorcycle is one word not two.

What a wonderful experience at the local grocer yesterday. Appreciated the patriotic theme, as the staff did a fine job of dedication to our nations birthday.

Spent time drinking coffee with the produce manager yesterday. He was kind enough to show me recently picked strawberries and melon from local farms. His son is considering college, to follow in his footsteps, and I extended my congratulations.

The cashiers, and bagging employees were smiling and I had a great experience. Visit and support your local grocer!

If a prominent figure in our society was arrested for such a crime, it would be news on WTOP, WJLA, WUSA, etc. Instead what we have here is slandering your local grocer which is rephrehensible.

Do you really think the produce manager who gives children fresh fruit pieces, will grab a child's bottom or molest them in any way? Unbelievable and perhaps you should visit your local grocers produce manager and apologize to him or her.

look pal we are all pretty shaken up over this - 3 cops had to hold the dad back from fucking that grocer up. They finally had to put the dad in the back of the cruiser until he calmed down. From what I understand the grocer security was checking the security cameras with the family when they saw the grocer fiddling about with the young lad - disgraceful.

My grocer is a real idiot. I had to tell him he had Fuji apples labeled as more expensive Honeycrisps. I dont think he knew the difference between the two. I also caught him sending half rotten fruit to the deli manager to be made into fruit salad - pretty lame if you ask me. He is super skinny and has bad skin I think he may be a meth-head or Oxy addict or some shit.
