Reading a book about the DEEP STATE

It's very interesting! The book by Mike Lofgren. Apparently , Washington D.C. was nothing but a provincial Southern Country town back in the 1950's. As it grew, so did it's rep, but most people saw D.C. as some backwater, preferring the enaclaves of New York or Palm Beach. D.C. was also known as "foggy bottom" for being so oppressively humid in the summer, and also "the swamp".

Fast Forward to the Reagan years, the term "Inside the Beltway" emerged. This was code talk for the "Deep State"- the global elitists and mostly liberal politicians (and some Republicans) that came on the scene. This was not Reagan's fault, it was brewing for a time.

The new Mason Dixon line became the Occoquan river, while the Washingtonian elite grew and spread their way across the Potomac into "occupied Virginia". I can' put this book down. I love it!
