The job application process is a dehumanizing waste of time.

Fuck the job application process. It's miserable and exploitative. Here are the steps:

APPLY FOR A JOB!

This part sucks. Monster.com, indeed.com, on-site listings. It's the same shit every time. Click on the job, then attach your resume. Then input ALL THE SAME INFORMATION again. Painstakingly. Takes 30-40 minutes to do 1 application. For a job you're not even likely to be called in for an interview. Inefficient and infuriating.

INTERVIEW!

I've been to about 40-50 interviews throughout the last two years. It's remarkable how PAINFUL the entire process is. Let me ask you this: can you make a friend off of one conversation? No? Well how do you expect to get hired off of one conversation? And they always ask the most ridiculous questions: where do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your greatest strength? Tell me a moment where you demonstrated leadership qualities.

I live in silicon valley. The interviews here are fucking ridiculous: "calculate the average cost of owning a vacuum cleaner. Suppose a vacuuming company offered the ability to vacuum other people's houses for $5 a room. Is this economically viable?" And they don't even let me use a piece of paper. Jesus christ. Know what the job was? OFFICE ASSISTANT. Why the fuck are you asking me this? And they look so smug while you're mumbling and stumbling through your words trying to answer the most asinine of questions. We get it, you're good at math, I'm not. As if I didn't feel shitty already.

THE WAIT!

Here's the best part. You go home after the interview, and you think about what happened. You feel it's 50/50: maybe you got the job, maybe you didn't. It doesn't matter. You wonder if you should begin the process anew and start applying again. A day goes by, nothing in your inbox. Another day goes by, nothing in your inbox. 4 days become a week. A week becomes 2 weeks. FINALLY, an email is sent to you: "Unfortunately, we have decided to move onto other candidates that are more suitable for this position..."

Here's the reason why they don't answer you the following day: they don't want you as their first pick. They want another guy. But they don't know if their first pick wants them as much as they want him. So they'll try to seal the deal with him before moving onto the other people. Which is why you're sitting down on your chair staring at your inbox feeling hope drain day by day., all the while seeing everyone else somehow get jobs because daddy happens to have a friend who does x at x company.

And the saddest part of all? These jobs pay around 30k - 50k. That's barely enough for rent, food, electricity, insurance. They have us fighting like rats over a scrap of cheese for the right of making a livable wage. The jobs aren't fanciful either: you're either an excel monkey, a printer fixer, a receptionist. No wonder the liquor stores are packed with people trying to buy a powerball ticket. Even the daydream of winning is better than the reality.

You work your heart out to get anything out of this, but everyone around you treats you with pity and disgust. They think you're a bum leeching off of their generosity.

Fuck the job process.

UPDATE 1: Well, just got another rejection email (first one of the year! whoo!). But on the bright side, thank you for the gold, internet stranger. I wrote this post after driving 1.5 hours to a company site where they placed me in a windowless room for 5 hours to be interviewed by 7 different people. I swear I was so close I could taste the salary. Alas, that's life. Thanks for the advice and support, everyone. I live with my parents and can't afford getting out of SV (for now). Nothing more for all of us to do but to push against the wall with our worthless wretched selves until something gives or there's nothing more to push. Fuck them.

Da fuk? Is your name William Moreno? Who even needs to look at job listings these days? It's a seller's market and employers are burning up most people's voicemail with with job offers.

No, it really isn't. What world are you living in? Employers aren't hiring unless you're under 25 with 15 years experience and a PMP, MBA and are knowledgeable in SharePoint, Munis and java.

The company I work for has literally hundreds of open jobs. I get several unsolicited calls from recruiters every week and I'm well over 25, don't have a PMP, can barely spell Sharepoint, don't care to spell Java, and have no idea what a "Munis" is. There definitely are a lot of Java jobs, and it's not difficult to learn.

Why should you hire me?

Because as a typical Manager in Fairfax, your hired because your dishonest, your lazy, and too un-skilled to get any real work done yourself.

They may be hiring, but who's getting the jobs? Im employed, but not making much. I've been applying to various jobs in different industries for three years now. I've applied to over 200 jobs, and in that span I've gotten about 5 interviews, I've taken about 4 pre-interview exams without getting a call for an interview and about 2 job offers. One of which I accepted. My experience seems to be typical based off of conversations with others I've had. I know people that have Masters and even Phd in fields like economtetrics, International Relations and other really marketable degrees.

Guys, I have a question. Has anyone ordered a resume on such services? - https://resumeget.com/resume-services-near-me . Many forums write that it helps to speed up the job search process and helps to find a good job. I doubt it. Therefore, I would like to discuss this issue with someone.

I don't agree. If you want to find new job you should be prepared for 100%. It is not so simple but normal for modern world. Personally I recommend you to order professional resume and search vacancies online. In the same time you should spend all time on preparing to the interview. I also want to hire military resume writers on AccuroResumes because I don't know how to create such resume..

I hate this process. Mostly I hate when they say “wait for our call if we will be interested in working with you”. Then you just wait, and in 90% of the cases, you receive no call. Despite this, there are companies that are very kind and after the interview they write you interview thank you email and also say the answer “yes, you are hired” or “no, thank you” very quickly and it is ok. I like such a behavior and it shows that there works great and mannered staff.

I completely agree with your statement, I have often encountered such a problem, but in a pandemic, companies often switch to remote work, and this is cool. you can stay out of contact with people and work safely from home. To find a job, the remote hub helped me, I was glad that I found such a cool site

Gerrymanderer2 (G2, the OP original poster or spammer just above, perhaps both) posts several lies on ffu daily - many think he's a fx co gov worker who is getting paid to do it for false DNC democrat "advertising". He floods ffu with useless posts to bump down major news, demoralize americans. G2 posts fecal matter, mutilated bodies, child porn, foreign drug ads and sneaker ads, tells people to kill themselves and government should seize them and put them on psych pills in prison without a trial - decided by DNC democrats gov workers, promotes kangaroo courthouse trials, gives anti-religious rants, gives satanic ritual rants, posts black males with large dicks on white young females, portends white low birth rate and fall of USA whites, suggestive of food tampering/poisoning to solve the white problem, and anything possible to demoralize any americans on ffu - all of which are fake news he never responds to proofs it is fake. (perhaps g2 is a chinese prisoner or isis member - but definitely knowledgeable of fx co gov from the inside at times). The website operator has told him "not to post or return" (in an existing post by the sysop): not because of a political leaning but for continual illegal and gross spam along with messages that are only to demoralize if not kill others. G2 plays at financial terrorism as well; continually reporting fake and false financial data. G2 fakes emergency pleas to deaden the real response to any real one - like a devil. G2 continually spams FFU - which all users complain of: it is a real DoS attack - the attacks are not just topic bumps but designed to inject key words to kill ffu and google search results. G2 continually promotes drug use, alcoholic experimentation, and tries to convince members to meet hookers using photos from the 1990's (i doubt any that did are not arrested or dead). G2 continually posts racist posts and gay posts egging others to comment - then attacks who does - AND RECORDS IT (likely for political extortion). G2 and dems MONITOR AND RECORD* "conservatives who blast out these democrat lies and illegal abuse of telephone privilege (sometimes in a raw manner, being so jaded by the job)" (users who object to G2's actions listed so far). One ffu member discovered a south american country recording FFU databasing all posts in a non-chat database format - and when questioned - another member quickly said it was all coincidence and that this was done everywhere in the world on all sites: WHICH IS A LIE. Not all countries record the every word of what fairfaxians say on blogs. Extortion is also mentioned by G2. And the idea he's fishing for comments he can use against anyone who'd run for office is "just assume he's in that business" - and i've warned others that is what he fishes for - excuses to attack conservatives and or to extort them.

SOME POSTERS ON FFU FEEL G2 IS A JOKER: I ASSURE YOU THE ABOVE COMPLAINTS ARE GENUINELY A THREAT TO ONLOOKERS (THE UN-INTIATED), NON-DEMOCRATS, AND TO ANYONE STATING THAT LAWS SHOULD BE IMPOSED ON DEMOCRATS EQUALLY AS DEMOCRATS IMPOSE THEM ON OTHERS: MONEY

LEGAL NOTICE: DEMOCRATS HAVE `SWATTED' THE HOMES OF SOME FFU POSTS WHO REFUTE G2 AND CALL DEMS OUT ON THEFT AND LIES - AND EXPOSE THE LAWS THEY COULD BE PROSECUTED FOR BREACH OF TRUST. THAT'S A CONFIRMED WITNESSED FACT. IT IS NO JOKE WHAT G2 IS DOING. HIS CONTINUAL FISHING IS NOT IDLE - THEY ARE TRIGGERED AND ARMED. which i've warned others about since, about 2010 - that G2 is fishing for men to "erase" politically, by any means available to him

G2 has now been wimpering that anti-G2 posts are "unfair" and that users who protest G2 should be blocked, SWATTED (see above), and forced on medications (see above), and that "someone else is G2". However - do not let the vicious foreign attacker fool you into your death our out of your community: G2 has been active since exactly the beginning of 2017 "hillary has already won the election" set of lies and has only DOUBLED spam recently - yes the suicide taunting of others, false information, and all else listed above. He is not wimpering for help he has doubled the spam and vicious attacks (or they, communist/facist using federal money. I pinned him correctly when I began this warning post.

GO BACK TO HELL G2. YOU ARE EXPOSED.

DROP DEAD G2

Recently I was offered a job in the USA, as my job is very popular and in great demand. But I have never been abroad and this is the first time I come across such a problem. I needed to go there as quickly as possible so as not to lose the chance. I decided to ask my friends what to do. They advised me this website https://tnvisaexpert.com/overview/tn-visa-requirements/ , where you can get a visa in a very short period of time. I am very grateful to them and I hope it helps me!

I hate job interviews, it’s my least favorite part of the job search process. I often went to interviews when I really needed a job, but in the end I decided that I was just wasting my time, so I found this page where there are really suitable vacancies for me. I can immediately see the requirements for an employee, so I can't waste time if I see that I don't fit the criteria.

I don't interview anymore. I talk to a manager/director/vp I know at a company and I get hired. My resume speaks for itself, my security clearance is golden, and my references are industry customers (not fucking employees).

You're a fag if you post your resume online and wait for a retarded hr/recruiter to contact you. Online is a resume data collection disaster. I get spam emails from "recruiters" all the time that email a list of people that happen to have a keyword that matches my resume. What a bunch of losers these "recruiters" are these days. And lots of them are obviously overseas because they want an educated, talented, professional with a security clearance and more than 15 years experience to commute to fucking Baltimore. Hey losers, I don't even commute to Tysons much less that piece of shit city Baltimore.

And, no, I'm not looking for a job.

I suggest you call your friends who are working. If they actually like you and you are even halfway normal and reliable, you will get a job without having to "interview" like the rest of the candidates.

People, please stop being stupid.

Never had a problem and always seem to get hired.

Made you are applying for jobs that you are not qualified for.

The best way to get good jobs is to network in your field and not do interviews.

You don’t have a clearance, you work McDonald’s at day and Home Depot unloading 18 wheelers at night.

I agree with you, and sometimes the job application process can get you bored. Today HRs are using stupid application questions without a proper understanding of how they need to work with real people. I have been at around 30 interviews, some of them were good, and some were not. After the COVID-19 global pandemic crisis began, I decided that was a good time to switch my career, so I found a good site https://www.becomeopedia.com/digital-marketing-careers/ with an informative description about the future of energy careers.

Maybe they like it. If seriously, I also don't understand it. We live in times of technology, can integrate digital transformation into various spheres of business, check personal information online, etc. Actually, you could check here everything you need and only then invite for an interview. Why do none of them do it? Moreover, there are people who live abroad and work in outsourcing. And they are hired without exhausting and boring meetings. So, there is actually a way to avoid that hell.
