REUTERS 2017: The United States will upgrade and build facilities on Philippine military bases this year, Manila’s defense minister said on Thursday.

WASHINGTON POST 2016 (obama.gov): BEIJING — Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said Wednesday he wanted U.S. troops out of his country, perhaps in the next two years.

-----------------------

Philippines (and their 'indigenous indian' tribe (as they say think at the time) was "given" to USA after the American-Spanish war.

In 1911 some of Philippines revolted and was easily dispensed with by USA governors. Elections were held and anti-USA democrat nationalists were elected: but USA remained in power. (included a muslim area that also revolted)

In 1944 Philippine Democrats declared war against USA after Japan attacked the USA base there (WWII). Japan lost the war so did Philippines, USA military bases REMAINED.

"THIS IS A WAR WE WON TWICE FAIR AND SQUARE" against politicians who tried to scrape up hate against USA control of the Island.

USA military bases stand, the flag still waves.

today it's looking like Philippines has two political parties. the party of filipinos that (profits from) the USA bases in Philippines and wish to keep political power (simlitar to republicans in usa?) and DEMOCRATS: the party that wants to declare war agains USA a third time, make friends with Bejing, hate the USA: and really TAKE ALL DA MONEY AND POWER

(obviously the opposing political opponents, like those in hawaii, consider the indiginous people the rightful owners oppressed by USA, so the demcrats will say. but the democrats STAND TO PROFIT from such an exchange. politics as usual.)

There is no doubt the Philippines was tribal at the time. Considered a case for 'colonization', trade, etc by European nations.
