I know people did this before with registered posters via a bot sent by message. Can you determine the IP's of anon posters?

You can post a code here (eesh did it a few times recently) which will track ALL ips. The issue is you get tons of them, so from there you just have to match up the IP with the timestamp of the post.


So yes, they can guess your IP with pretty good accuracy.

I don't think you can embed a url that would be automatically retrieved. Someone would need to click it. I suspect this is why you can't embed youtube videos either.

Think about this for a second. Wouldn't the anonymous user have to post? Why would this post time have anything to do with the time that the URL was retrieved? The URL was retrieved when the anon poster read the thread not when he posted.

No. Your browser will load a link within a thread without you posting anything. IPs hitting that link then can be captured. To the extent that you can target an individual poster in various ways, you then can narrow down the scope of what's captured. Depending on the code at the link you could potentially capture more than just an IP.

The trick is to do it without any active requirement on their part, e.g., having to click on a link. Which is possible in various ways but most all are blocked here.

As an easy example, a simple embedded image:

When you load this thread, your browser will automatically retrieve and display the image above from the server where it's hosted. Your IP will be captured by the server as part of the HTTP header. By looking at the logs or other simple means, someone then would have your IP. Instead of the visible image above, alternately it could be a single transparent pixel that works in the same way that you wouldn't notice unless you looked or quoted the post.

All you know is that someone read it. You don't have any idea which Anon poster read it assuming they bother to post. If they are dumb enough not to radomize their name perhaps you have a shot.

Even that simply you can narrow it down pretty easily with as little traffic as this site gets. e.g., If we're going back and forth and I keep posting images, then I'll be relatively sure that it's you based on time stamps and the few views that the thread will get otherwise. If I do that across a few threads and over time, then I'll be virtually certain. But having an IP isn't all that useful. Alone anyway.

Send them a dm. If they respond you can track them.

Why to do that? Is that person a criminal? I get it when the CIA tracks some international "criminals", but you? That's why people are scared to use the internet, their privacy is in danger. I find very useful the sites that help you find your own IP adress and not of another person, like https://www.showmyip.com while the sh*t you're talking about is harmful.And without it we're constantly followed by the governments but now you're looking for methods that will allow for normal people to track other normal people. This will increase the number of crimes and thefts for sure.

Don't all your plans break down about VPN and proxy server? Just using these two elements, almost no one will track you. This is a good security measure. BUT don't forget about other security issues. I personally like and use virtual address for various online purchases. Especially if you use a vpn, then no one will be able to track you) Of course, for packages from the darknet, it is better not to use this method. But who knows how things will turn out in a year or two) I would also advise everyone to use the duck duck go browser)
