Would you get the Ferrari Portofino or the Aston Martin Vantage

Can’t decide. The Vantage is cheaper, but will lost value faster. Both are twin turbo V8. Both are new for 2019.

I have an eleven car garage - I would purchase both if I so desired. Why the binary choice? You shouldnt be embarrassed you cannot afford both simply save up until you can. I prefer vintage vehicles that appreciate in value - guess thats why I can afford as many as I like.

Yeah, I’m just not as lucky as you. I promised to buy my hot girlfriend a condo, or I probably would get both. Not everyone can buy everything they want and get every single flavor of the month, but somehow I feel no shame in that.

I assure there was no 'luck' involved in my financial gain. In any event, allow me to share my opinion that you should allow your mistress to 'use' the condo but retain ownership in an LLC from which you personally lease the space for a limited period of time. The assets remain in the control of the LLC in the event there are any claims made against you personally in the relationship.

Make sure to insure it through the LLC as well as breakage is inevitable with the dissolution of these relationships.

^^^^^

I use the term “not as lucky” only as a common expression. I meant no offense!!

Your other advice seems perfectly sound, but much of it goes without saying. I thank you nevertheless.

My car shopping dilemma is still not solved though...

Your money is your money and you should do with it as you please, but buying anything but used cars is an absurd waste of money. If you’re going to spend $100k why not invest it in real estate. I made over 300k in sales last year alone, and am on target to make slightly more this fiscal year. I could go out and buy a Range Rover evoque if I wanted, but my Rav-4 gets me where u want to go. Stop spending money on stupid shit that depreciates exponentially over a short period of time.

I beg to differ. I ordered two 488's on release...paid in mid/high 200's for them. Just prior to delivery, listed one of them on the Dupont Registry and with two brokers in FL. Sold it in about two weeks for almost $400K.

I've had plenty of others that depreciate far slower than a fucking Benz or high end Lexus.

Nice story, but no 488 sold brand new for mid 200. Ferrari dealers required at least $50,000 in options for launch cars and no 488 GTB ever hit $400,000 used.

Dealers also required you sell the car back to them for a 10% max profit during the first year.

Can you bring me down another 2-liter bottle of Fanta? ...and a bag of Cheetos please! Also, have Cavendish bring the Bentley--either the silver or the red one, but not the black one--around front so me and the guys can go to the movies later.

Your situation is an exception to the rule. If you've got the shekels to spend buying and then flipping the cars, then it's not such a bad deal. I'm referring more to the idiots who go out and spend money on an overpriced beamer or Audi, drive it into the ground and then get pissed when they realize how much value their vehicle loses after three years. Lexus actually holds its value quite well compared to other high end cars.

This place is a funny study in human jealousy. The basement dweller strawman is used in all cases for people who have more money than you and live better than you and can afford nicer things than you. I guess when all you have is some bullshit government job or some loser IT and just enough of a retarded job to get you into a cheap BMW lease, that is all your simpleton mind can handle.

Clearly you do not have a relationship with a Ferrari dealer. In the early days, 488s could fetch mid 400s...and some did. The waiting list was over a year even for the best customers. There are no "requirements" of Ferrari owners. There are "encouragements" and you may find yourself holding a lower status if you repeatedly act in a way that is discouraged. Members holding a higher status are given far more flexibility.

How many have you owned?

Nice story bro, but no 488GTB ever went for more than a 458 Speciale, ever. And that special relationship with a Ferrari dealer is buying cars you don't want to get a shot at buying a limited edition you may want. 488 GTB is hardly limited. That relationship is not handing out $100,000 quick profits for doing nothing. If anyone is gonna make the windfall on new releases, it will be the dealership or the factory.

There are two 812 at Algar right now. Pretty sure these two "used" cars were purchased from "customers" for a small premium. The bulk of the profits will surely flow to Algar and not someone like you. Bank on that.

Like I said, it's different for everyone and from your continued posts you clearly aren't aware of how some of these upper end cars move and the relationships some customers have with Ferrari.

The Italian brands are too ostentatious for my taste, I prefer my 911. Cheaper, it doesn't stick out as much and you can still get a manual. Once you have money you won't care about depreciation, I buy all my cars with cash and once I buy them I just assume it's a total loss, like going on a vacation.

It is absolutely a matter of personal taste. I've always had a great deal of respect for the Porsche guys and I know a lot of them. Porsche has stayed more traditional on many fronts and it's a classy operation.

Before I got into Ferraris I considered a Lambo. Having met some of those guys and gotten to know the brand, I would never have one now. I feel like now in this area if I met a guy at a party and you told me he had an exotic, I could talk to him for 5 minutes and tell you what he owned - and sometimes just by looking at them.

I have the title for a 2007 Ford Escape. Needs tires and a oil change, though.
