Do employers in this area just assume everyone has a security clearance

When I say just about every job, every, fucking, job seems to require an applicant to have even the lowest clearance level, I mean every. You can't even get a decent paying paper pusher job without one around here. It's ridiculous. Five years ago, security clearances were handed out like Halloween candy. In today's market, there's a backlog at least a few hundred thousand people trying to get cleared. It's insane.
